I am pleased to report that Jay Hunt has left the BBC. Too late though - we are still saddled with Alesha.

Oh! That's an intersting development...

And Jay Hunt leaving the BBC is the excuse for yet another Alesha bashing thread. I'm not Alesha's biggest fan but the anti-Alesha threads are becoming really tedious. *sighs*

Interesting that Jay Hunt has left. Why? Is it because she is ducking out before Strictly fails to measure up this year in spite of all the unnecessary changes and importing of professionals at great cost to the licence payers.

She will be no loss whatever the reason.

She will be no loss.

Her salary was an obscene amount of money.

I won't miss her, but tbh I do think it's a bit premature to say

She wasn't in charge of Strictly for this year, so the changes - whether they prove popular or not - will not be down to her either way.

And remember, part of the reason for the changes is that last year viewers complained the show had become boring, etc., so if you are one who doesn't like change then blame the viewers who complained.

Hooray! No more £50 cashmere socks marked as 'gifts' on her BBC expenses account, paid for by our licence fee.

The BBC is now £280,000 (plus expenses) better off without her.

Good good.

Might be good except it probably just means £50 socks(??) and £280,000 will be paid to someone else.

I dont think the BBC gives a hoot about what the viewers want actually.
Also you are assuming something I never actually said, I dont mind change, sometimes its good, a lot of the time its not needed. Like for instance sidelining perectly good professionals for others costing a lot of money in fees and transport and accomodation.

IMHO There was no need to create a dance troupe as they want to call it. I dont have favourites but I fail to see what if anything this new format regarding the professionals is going to achieve.

I didn't know you could buy socks for as much as £50.

I think the BBC does care about what the viewers think, but I'm not sure producers do or even if they do, always get it right. in any case, they will never please everyone who watches a show like SCD, because people watch for all sorts of reasons.

I think the aim of the dance troupe is to offer more pro dances which most people love watching. BTW kaycee did say '...so if you are one who doesn't like change...'.

Because Channel 4 have poached her and will be paying her close to 400k a year in her new job.

I'm really hoping Danny Cohen isn't going to get the job as controller of BBC One.

A common denominator of the changes this year suggests management are opting for novelty and surprise, such as Vincent and Flavia making a Moscow State Circus grand entrance.

"Shock and Awe," said Donald Rumsfeld in shorthand.

He was actually describing SCD8 with some prescience. "Shocking and awful," he had meant to say.

"The BBC does care what the viewers think," they never tire of saying that... But then they go and "do their own thing," always have done.

Good luck to Channel 4, they'll certainly need it. So glad to see the back of that woman whether she has any control over Strictly this year or not.

She'll probably have Jon Snow replaced on Four News by an animated singing and dancing Graham Norton

The BBC's gain is Channel 4's loss.

See her job has been newly created and she's to be "Chief Creative Officer". More dumbed down programmes then, seeing as she's always said she wants to aim at the C2DE socio-economic group.

The favourites are Janice Hadlow (current controller of BBC2) and Danny Cohen (current controller of BBC3).
