I agree, although I think it is just as bad to expect a man to take his wifes surname. I would much rather married couples got to choose a new surname for themselves, that way they could pick something that they both were comfortable with.
Either that or just abolish surnames and have goverment issued family index numbers, which would ofcourse be changed to a new number on marriage. Amy and Rory #51,789,234 has a nice ring to it don't you think
As for the use of Miss, Mrs, Mr, Sir, Madam, Master and all the rest I always thought that they were antiquated and should just be dropped from use entirely. Whats wrong with just using Sam Bloggs instead of Mr Sam Bloggs or Mrs Sam Bloggs, really what do the prefixes add to a name?
