Not doing to bad is she?

I'll be really interested to see if Radio 1 do a snivelling U-turn on Alex, is she manages to score a hit in America.

I noticed that Jay Sean (who could not get a sniff of playlist when he was in the UK) and Taio Cruz became playlist fixtures once their careers and profiles in America went up.

Either way, I think Alex is going to continue posing a problem for Radio 1, no matter what excuse the concoct this week. Because I think her popularity can grow in the UK, to the point where she can surpass Cheryl's popularity as an artist (Cheryl may have helped that cause recently, by her recent actions in underming her own nations sweetheart standing). They have to hope she fades away, and that her succes basically peaked with the first album. I do think she'll be a Will Young type though, and have possibly greater succes with her second album.

Cheryl doesn't seem to be getting much radio support compared to her previous releases seeing as she just entered the top 50 this week. Alex was in the top 30 2 weeks before she released SWY. I'm guessing Cheryl will rocket up this week. It makes you realise how quickly Alex has become a radio staple in this country.

I actually think she sang Candy Man better than Christina. Some may disagree but that is my opinion.

She pulled out a lot of great performances in her stint but for me the oustanding performance was that of Relight My Fire in week 7.

Vocally it suffered because of the demands of the routine ( although still wonderful ) but as a spectacle it was as good as it gets and I don't think that artists of many years standing could've bettered it.

Simon did say it was the best version of that song that he had ever heard. I think when Chris Moyles was a better human being he also played Alex's version of relight my fire on his radio show. It was an amazing performance.

Just watched the Hallelujah music video again! Gave me goosebumps and reminded me of the sheer agony of waiting for Dermot to reveal the result.

I loved the way Alex looked in the video for Hallelujah. The part where she's standing among the candles. She looks perfect. Really wish they'd get her hair back to looking like that again.

She's going away to Asia next week, not sure why (i know it's for promo)...but it's useless, really. I'd rather they'd invest more money in the new video and some brand new artwork than doing these very short and pointless promo tours in foreign countries. People don't do that when you've got a single and re-release just around the corner.

And Olly's releasing on the 21st of November so Alex definitely won't on that date...perhaps a week later (29th), and the re-issue will be pushed back a week?. Really starting to get worried now.

Everything at this point is what we call "gravy". She just had a # 1 single. She's had three #1 singles to date. She's got a double platinum album, not far from 700k.

Basically, there is no pressure to perform. As long as the next single goes top 10, then it's all good. If she gets another #1, great. If she doesn't...it doesn't matter. She's already got more than many artists willl rack up in a career.

The single and the re-release should do just fine. Alex is well liked, and her stuff is anticipated, and she always kills live performances. We'd all do well to stop underestimating that. If she performs up to her capability on X-Factor (and other shows), she'll sell the new single and re-release in one fell swoop.

Also, you have to look at it from another perspective. Syco could just say to themselves...."Alex does great in the UK and Ireland. We don't need to go anywhere else"......by having Alex do these international promos, it shows that they are still serious about having her become a major international act, and not just a local endeavour. Obviously, breaking America will be the thing that makes it all click, but it helps to establish a rapport with other foreign markets beforehand.

Brilliant....Alex is an artists's artist. So many other artists respect her talent and live performances. Esmee Denters said something similar after seeing Alex perform live, as did Shontelle. Charlotte Church recently called her one of the best vocalists she'd ever heard. They all do the same thing, so they know how hard it is to reach Alex's level. Most of them will never get there (and when you consider that Alex is still improving, that's pretty crazy).

I just expect her management/label to pull through for her. Atleast for this one time because they're doing a repackage. Every other artist releasing in late November already had their single premiered on radio and we don't even know what's going on with her.

If she's releasing a ballad, they need to give people/radio time to adjust to the fact that she's not coming out with an uptempo. I can already tell that they're aiming to rely entirely on the Xfactor slot at this point and rush the single to radio 3/4 weeks ahead of release and the video at an even later date.

I wonder if it's the Silence after all?

I was also wondering if it's the silence as the video seems to be ready quite quickly. However knowing Syco, whatever song the video is for they will decide to re-shoot the whole thing and it will be released late.

I thought the video for TS was done and supposed to go on the DVD with all her videos?.

It must be The Silence. Alex tweeted a while ago that she thinks everyone will be happy when they find out what her new single is. Fans have been wanting The Silence relased for ages. I fear she's left it too late to relase it though. The album is close to 700k now so everyone has the track. However, I have a feeling she could pull this out of the bag and have another big hit. There's literally no ballads otut here at the moment. It's risky, but might just work!

The Silence will appeal to X Factor viewers who voted for her but haven't bought her album beacuse of Bad Boys. Dare I say it- some of the older voters/viewers. If it is TS we know she'll totally smash the live performance . I just worry she'll be too emotional because it has deeper meanings to her.

I don't get that. Alex and JLS aren't performing on X Factor this week. All I can think of is maybe it's a charity gig or something. She had better not release Dumb. I know a lot of people like it, bit for me it's the worst track on the album...sounds really cheap and cheesy. I'm a bit worried now!!
