Hopefully you're right but it depends on the song though. I'm also worried about Rihanna who's 6th album campaign is starting very soon...

The rumoured producers sound extremely promising though, and I notice that Alex is following Dr. Luke and Ester Dean which means that they must have worked together on the 2nd album

Been looking at the release schedule for this year and for a while I thought Alexandra might have an album out on October 31st but the longer it takes for the single, the less likely that seems. Although last Monday always seemed unlikely because Matt had his premiere. After that, it's crowded with Syco/X Factor releases. I suppose they could put her up against someone like One Direction as there shouldn't be much crossover in their target market.

I even think they did a great job with Diana Vickers, the only problem was that the public wasn't particularly interested in her. Alex NEEDED to leave Syco. If she was still with them we'd have a lead single produced by Redone featuring Pitbull with artwork designed on Paint.”

Hurts are signed to Major Label, a joint venture between Richard "Biff" Stannard (Music Producer for X Factor, did a lot with the Spice Girls) and Phonogenic Records (they signed Natasha Bedingfield and The Script and their team are now running Epic Records since Nick Raphael left). They're just distributed through RCA.

Under the terms of a 2001 agreement between Simon Cowell and Simon Fuller, the latter has complete control over Will Young's career via 19 Recordings. RCA promote and distribute his music. Westlife were signed to RCA by Simon Cowell in the late nineties then to his own imprints, S Records and later Syco Music. They only returned to RCA earlier this year.

Somebody tweeted James Reynolds (the guy who was mixing the supposed single last week) this morning asking when we would hear the new single.

He replied:

jamesfreynolds1 James F Reynolds

@Rob206 it's all up in the air whilst the label decide which song to run with, so in short I don't know.

I KNEW IT....as I said beforehand, it's the only plausible reason for this ridiculous delay...

Yes, there can't be any other reason. Let's hope that they two stand-out tracks. From the producers that have been mentioned it's a possibility.

Right, I don't see a problem with us not having heard the single yet, as she wasn't even recording the album for a whole year, so in my opinion it's around this time that we should be hearing it. If it was any earlier then I would be worried. What does worry me though, is the fact that we've been promised a date for its premiere on a number of occasions and it keeps getting pushed back.

Advantages of this:
- James Reynolds has tweeted that RCA are trying to decide on which track to release as the single. This could very well mean that they have two strong tracks.
- Alex has said the delay is because RCA want to get everything perfect. If she's telling the truth, it could mean that things like promo, video launch, art work etc are released strategically and not at any old time like it was with Syco. They could be planning a proper promo campaign.

Disadvantages:
- Timing! I think it's pretty obvious now that the album won't be released until 2012. The problem with this is, is that January and February are awful times to release an album, which means the best time would be March. The problem with this though, is that what happens with the single?
- X Factor!! Slate it all you want, but an X Factor performance is huge, huge promo. Sure it doesn't guarantee a number one, but for a lot of artists it does and it's massive promo. If we're looking at a 2012 release, then she's going to end up missing this.

Hmmm, I really don't know what to say. I don't even want to look at a calendar to see when she could potentially release as I think all the windows of opportunity have gone. I think whichever week she releases, she's now going to be up against stiff competition. I think she's lost the chance of getting a number one single and album.

This is dissapointing, especially now as we have no idea when the single will be released. They should play both songs to radio dj's and ask which one they'd play more or something, just whatever it takes to get the single out soon.

I think this era is gonna be a disaster I don't wanna be negative but everything about this era so far seems bad...

and I don't know whether to believe her when she says RCA are perfectionists, look at how Bionic flopped... (that was down to RCA) and also Kelly Clarkson's past era flopped mega also which was also down to RCA.

I just have a feeling... I pray I'm wrong and to be honest, Album 2 is probaly the most important one for Alex... it is make or break.

At least whatever mixing that needed to be done to the James Reynolds is now done.

In the Captal FM interview she said the single would be released in late October. There is still time to do this.

Obviously we've had to take these dates with a pinch of salt, but I really hope it all works out well.

To be fair, it's frustrating for fans, can you imagine what it's like for her?

I don't think we can write the era off when we haven't heard any music.

Alex has amazing talent and she's worked with some excellent people, so there is no reason why it can't be a smash.

For ever negative RCA story (Christina etc), there is a positive.

Look at their catalogue of artists:

Realistically the single can now only be released very late October if they are doing a proper promo campaign...

Also we basically now have no indication when the single is coming or even if they have chosen it. As I feared it's clear that Alex wants one thing and RCA wants another hence the 'RCA want to make sure everything is perfect line'...its clear there is a conflict of opinions that Alex is dealing with causing these delays...

As for the album, I have no idea what is going on there, if she releases it in November, the chances are the sales will take a huge hit and she won't get a #1 album given all the other releases at that time...they are really just better of waiting for a 2nd single before dropping the album in that case...

It's really disappointing as they have wasted almost a month over the single choice and the time really is running out now...

Most of them are US artists just signed to RCA for UK promotion, the majority of the work is done for them already e.g Beyonce, CB, Britney...

They are not very good at managing artists, she could have picked such a better label then RCA... maybe epic would have been a better choice.

I don't know why she didn't just sign to Epic UK considering she is signed to them in the US. JLS are signed to Epic and they have had loads of success and smart management.

To be fair, they've released some awful music too. They paid £30,000 (allegedly) to work with Red One and got "She Makes me Wanna".

I really don't know what to say. At least the single is now mixed. Hopefully all they need to do now is decide which one to go with.

Yeah but it still got to #1 despite the track being produced by RedOne's assistant (hence no RedOne, JLS)....

I'm not defending their music, all 3 of their albums are rush released, but just imagine what their management could do for Alexandra who actually has quality songs...

No, it's a fair point. I know the music will be great, I just hope they know what they are doing management wise.
