As universtipping posted, one of the posters on pj who spoke to Alex has said they have two amazing singles to choose from. When they can't decide the lead it's very easy to assume that there is nothing that stands out, but in reality none of us know the quality of the material she has recorded.”
No 2 songs can be as good as the other, as radio friendly, as instant.
There has to be one with a better hook, a better melody. Even if they both sound like hits. A&R are meant to make these decisions quickly and efficiently... singles are picked just by hearing a rough demo ( which is what happened with Bad Boys)...they'd know by now without the need to mix it to death.
Having 2 songs that are as "good" as eachother for a lead is unheard off for an A&R team who know what they are doing....they should be completely in tune with what will work best...if they can't do that, they're simply incompetent... and the whole project might go tits up. Depending on how savvy some labels are...many deliberately choose to release a stronger track for the 2nd single as a way to help sustain album sales for longer....
Anyway, PJ is full of "insiders"....why would Alex reveal to some random person what's going on with her single release?.
Either way having 2 strong tracks is no excuse for delays with the Q4 fast approaching....it just doesn't make sense...provided they actually do want to take advantage of the Christmas period sales
