Apparently their US single with Shontelle has been scrapped.
When you listen to the lyrics of Perfect it just wouldn't work as a duet, and like I said the snippet on the x-factor is from the second version that leaked. It's possible that she is dueting on another track with JLS, but I think it's more likely to be the Smeezingtons or a US group. She said in an interview not that long ago that she hadn't yet worked with a UK act. There are 5 versions of Perfect, 2 of which haven't leaked and 3 of which have. The first was the mid-tempo Knock You Down style version produced by the Stereotypes recorded in early May 2009. The second was a slower version that got leaked, but disappeared very quickly (you can still find it though not on YT) and was recorded mid May. The third was the revamped slower version (prod. by Brian Kennedy) which leaked along with 15 other tracks and was actually recorded on MJ's deathday ( ) The fourth is a version which has leaked with Bruno's vocals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zc9B-fhyDI), but a version by Alex was recorded but not leaked. The fifth and final version is a revamped version of the Bruno version above but with drums and strings added. This is the version that we all heard on the X Factor and will probably appear on the re-release. All in all, this song has been around since May of last year but there are soooo many versions of this song.

Hello everyone! I'm Ali, I've been a lurker for years, so thought I should probably join since I practically live on here :P Glad it's come to a new part now, things were looking a bit too touchy before, haha!
Sooo glad Alex hit #1 with SWY, hopefully it'll hold onto it this week too. I do like Katy Perry too but I find her a little arrogant...? I think Alexandra deserves more weeks at #1 than she does. It's weird, at first I didn't really like SWY either, since it sounded like a kids' tune to me, but if you approach it with the mindset of thinking it's a #1 it's actually really good!? It's great for what it is, just a fun, summery song. I think people worried a bit too much about it. I do hope she delves into more meaningful material though, really excited to see what she does next. Would really love it if she had a definite niche of her own, I could see her being a bit more rocky - she's got the power and sass for it, and her vocals suit the style really well. It'd definitely show off her mid range which it what she excels at - she needs more songs like that! Following the discussion here, I do like Perfect, definitely don't see it as being 'catchy' enough to be a single though? I know it's popular here though :P I'm actually kind of hoping she releases Overcome, or some awesome new ballad. (The Silence missed its chance I feel). Anyway, sorry to ramble on! Nice to finally post on here ![]() Always nice to see a new member. Quote:
You're wrong there Stargirl. I've been doing some research into Perfect and the many versions to see what I can find, and it appears the one that was heard on XF was a version that has not leaked.

I'm only aware of two or three at most leaks for perfect.
I'm pretty sure that the clip they used on x-factor is from this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZKMk-BldQ The instrumental plays for quite a bit on a loop and then when Simon tells Paije he's through Alex starts singing. It sounds exactly the same as from 2.35 on this video - same backing singers, instrumental etc, except it sounds like they ahve taken out the Nah Nah Nah bits. I'm sure this is the finished version, if not the music then Alex singing. And I'll be very surprised if it turns out to be a duet. |

They master and tweak tracks all the time until they can't anymore. They can also write more lyrics and make it a duet. The possibilities are endless. Still holding out for something stronger for the lead *crosses fingers*.

They would have to completely re-write the track to make it fit a duet.
Desperately hoping it is still a solo track and it is the lead single for the re-release. She will slay an x-factor performance of this song. |

Thank you for the welcome everyone!!
And that Alex clip is heartbreaking At least she came back stronger and is even better now, so glad she came back!Perfect should definitely NOT be a duet! D: Not as it is now, at least. I always think it's probably best not to fix what isn't broken, but, you never know, we could be pleasantly surprised. As it is right now I'm not 100% feeling it as single material, lovely track though. |

She's naturally very pretty, and looks better with less make-up. Simon on the other hand, not such a flattering photo.

Eek, Teenage Dream is REALLY close now on iTunes, only popularity bar away from about 50! But Alex's held on to #1 for a long time, so hopefully she's got it this week.
Speaking of Perfect, does anyone remember it being mentioned in Overcome's blurb on the OS even after the album was actually released? It always amused me. That to me said that it was always intended to be on the album, must've been cut out last minute. Or maybe it was due to it being leaked. They couldn't scrap Overcome too since it's the title track and Alexandra liked it so much. ![]() Also, anyone headed to see her on tour? February 12th for me, Block B, row G, so very close! Perhaps I can give her the demos I've done for her then. ...

Harry Fox website has the writers for 'Perfect' listed as Ari Levine, Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence (the Smeezingtons) and James Fauntelroy. Bruno Mars 'Who Is' was obviously the demo then.
So, I'd say that if it is 'Alexandra featuring', it will be the Smeezingtons rather than JLS. Katy appears to be stalling on i-tunes now. There's every chance Alex could be a contender for the #1 next week as well. |

Radio 1, lord, they must be bricking themselves right now ![]() 2 weeks at the top is bad enough, but completely ignoring a 3 week chart topper is a nightmare. It makes them look badly out of touch. You'd have to imagine some heads would roll. Who knows, Alex may actually cause them to revise how they do they plalylist (and who gets to do it. Maybe Aled will get bounced. Probably wishful thinking). With the news that Capital is going national, and the way the Radio 1 controller actually sent out personal replies to complaints by Alex fans, suggest that this is a more significant issue for Radio 1 than some might think. If they keep losing ground to commercial radio, heads will defintely roll. |

Her team should get some more promo for her this week and it would probably guarantee her 3 weeks at the top.
I think the worst thing for Radio 1 in all of this is that one of their senior producers publicly made their reasons for not playlisting her known - ie we don't think this song is popular and is only selling to her fanbase who will buy anything she releases, therefore we're right not to support it. They couldn't have been more wrong. Another week at #1 and probably around 50k sales proves that they completely misread the appeal of the song. They are out of touch. And it's not just the success if Alex's last two releases that show this. The Wanted, Enrique, Shontelle and Olly to name but a few. And probably most significantly Ushers OMG. How on earth couldn't they tell what a massive hit that was going to be in advance? |

I think a bit more promo is needed if they want her to keep her top spot, maybe a clip of her on the X Factor? Something like:
And they all aspire to he stars then flash to Alex doing listen for 10 seconds or so. |

I like this version and the very first version that leaked but I don't really like the instrumental on the latest version that leaked. It's too generic imo. I really hope they stick with either version 1 or 2 but that is very unlikely.
