To me it seems like it might be a positive thing. Simon Cowell has seemed more focused on promoting Cheryl's career in America than his own potentially massive breakthrough act like Alex (whom he barely mentions). Now that it looks unlikely that Cheryl will get a big launch as a solo superstar in the States off the back of the show, Cowell has to start looking at his own acts again and prioritising them in America, to show that UK X-Factor has produced great acts.
I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice if Cowell used his full range of media connections to promote Alex in America. If Cheryl was launching a US solo career at the same time, Simon would defintely invest more energy in using his connections to promote her.”
To be honest, I think that it won't make any difference - I think and hope the strategy for Alex is just launching a great song (which she is very capable of) and doing loads of radio's and local events etc. as she needs to do the leg work over there. I definetely think she has got what it takes though, just will require a lot of time and a killer track.
I think being on x factor promo probably won't make any difference, but the x factor being on over there will, as people will google/youtube it and her duet with beyonce was beyond amazing so it will defo help there.
I would say tho, we shouldn't get our hopes up about an x factor US performance, it almost certainly wont happen - we have to remember 1) simon's clout on this show is significantly less than the UK version, FOX will have the final say on everything (see cheryl cole as an example). 2) Leona lewis has already got a slot confirmed, so they have filled the 'this is an example of a previous winner' role, and she has had a bit of success over there albeit a while ago now. 3) Alex is an unknown, and guest appearances will need to be the big stars to pull in the ratings - just think of the American guests we had on x factor, virtually all very well known and successful. In the US there will be even more pressure for that to be the case to pull in ratings. The good thing is she doesn't need it, Leona lewis got to no1 in the US before AI/Oprah, so a fantastic song and lots of radio interviews and going around the US raising her profile is the best way to do it, and im sure she will, might not be straight away but she will get there at some point
