I've been watching Alex's performances from the Overcome era and I've got to say they were ALL top quality.

She can only go up from here, as we seen on tour - her performing skills improved loads.

I have big hopes for this era and I really think if she goes down the right route this will be the making of her.

Hey, I'm new to this. Did not realise there was a thread dedicated to Miss Burke. Thought i was strange for being so obsessed with Alex but it appears that she is a very popular lady.

I've read pages and pages of this thread and i just want to add that she tweeted yesterday informing us dedicated fans that her and RicoLove cannot wait for us to hear the single. I'm pretty confident that we're going to be hearing some snippets, more clues as to single and album release dates very soon. I also read a short while back that she is meant to be playing some new material at the Isle of Wight festival on 10th June. So we'll see.

I've got to say i am bored to tears with the music out at the moment and i am missing that stunning husky soulful voice that is Alexandra and i genuinly believe that she is missing us and that the delay is nothing more than wanting to create the perfect album. Saying that, anything she does i love so hurry Alex... we love you!

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the tweet updates. Yeah I assumed she would be playing new material at the upcoming IoW festival. It just seems a bit strange if she's singing two year old songs like 'Bad Boys' and 'All Night Long'. The latter is a tune and a half though.

I'm hoping the lead single is like 'All Night Long' and Beyonce's 'Sweet Dreams' but BETTER!

I agree, i'm hoping for an R&B/Dance sound. Something a little more mature than Overcome. However, i must admit i absolutely love Broken Heels. It gets me everytime and the vocals are amazing. She's super talented and she deserves to be up there with the greats!!

To me it seems like it might be a positive thing. Simon Cowell has seemed more focused on promoting Cheryl's career in America than his own potentially massive breakthrough act like Alex (whom he barely mentions). Now that it looks unlikely that Cheryl will get a big launch as a solo superstar in the States off the back of the show, Cowell has to start looking at his own acts again and prioritising them in America, to show that UK X-Factor has produced great acts.

I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice if Cowell used his full range of media connections to promote Alex in America. If Cheryl was launching a US solo career at the same time, Simon would defintely invest more energy in using his connections to promote her.”

To be honest, I think that it won't make any difference - I think and hope the strategy for Alex is just launching a great song (which she is very capable of) and doing loads of radio's and local events etc. as she needs to do the leg work over there. I definetely think she has got what it takes though, just will require a lot of time and a killer track.

I think being on x factor promo probably won't make any difference, but the x factor being on over there will, as people will google/youtube it and her duet with beyonce was beyond amazing so it will defo help there.

I would say tho, we shouldn't get our hopes up about an x factor US performance, it almost certainly wont happen - we have to remember 1) simon's clout on this show is significantly less than the UK version, FOX will have the final say on everything (see cheryl cole as an example). 2) Leona lewis has already got a slot confirmed, so they have filled the 'this is an example of a previous winner' role, and she has had a bit of success over there albeit a while ago now. 3) Alex is an unknown, and guest appearances will need to be the big stars to pull in the ratings - just think of the American guests we had on x factor, virtually all very well known and successful. In the US there will be even more pressure for that to be the case to pull in ratings. The good thing is she doesn't need it, Leona lewis got to no1 in the US before AI/Oprah, so a fantastic song and lots of radio interviews and going around the US raising her profile is the best way to do it, and im sure she will, might not be straight away but she will get there at some point

They should have released 'All Night Long' as a buzz single last year in the US.

Any more news on when we might hear the first single?

We might get a radio premiere within the next 3 weeks but i don't think that she will be performing it at festivals. They've only just picked the single last week...it needs a routine (if it's an uptempo)...and whoever is doing the choreography needs time, she needs to learn it etc...
Unless ofcourse all of the above is sorted/ready to go...and Alex just made it seem like they just found the single last week. She hasn't mentioned anything about any shoots recently either..so there's probably no artwork for it, yet. Knowing Syco they might even use left over shots from the Overcome era

So Alex is performing on X Factor in Poland this weekend. Great gig, but seems a bit pointless to me. And less she's going to actually spend a proper amount of time promoting in Europe, then I don't see the point in them sending her over there. Seems a waste of time and money. Do we know what she'll be performing?

Poland is one of the world's smallest music markets, I swear.

I think it's a pointless gig but at least she'll be doing another televised performance. Is she actually promoting a song over there?

#Sigh SyCo really are useless...

What is she actually going to sing? Surely not SWY which is approaching the year old mark!?

It's great that they are doing something to raise her profile in Europe, but why not have her perform on X Factor France instead, its a much bigger market, and should be one of the main areas they should be trying to crack...

As for the single, I hope she gives us some definite dates soon, as right now, its looking like they aren't 100% sure about this lead single...if Alex is so certain that this is 'the one', why haven't SyCo started circulating buzz stories, and given us more details and teasers on the project...

Good idea, but perhaps a bit too early on in her career?.

To be fair, if we're to go by her twitter then the first single was only recorded on 22nd May, just over a week ago. She posted a picture on Facebook and Twitter of her and Rico Love saying she can't wait for the fans to hear the single.

I'm sure it will be the single, but give them a chance. I'm sure the track itself will need to be tweaked, then a video made.

Choreography etc. It all takes time. I definitely think we'll hear it in the next fortnight or so!

The role is perfect for her imo.

But I'd actually like her to be in the film version. I think another Bodyguard film is being planned.

I think Alex should concentrate on her music career and cracking international markets as well as establishing herself in the UK before going for acting roles.

Alexandra scored a number 1 single in Poland with Bad Boys so i'm pretty sure thats the reason she's heading there to do X Factor. She has a following there and both her and the label probably feel that they owe it to them to make an apprearance and if X Factor is as big over in Poland as it is here then its not exactly a wasted journey. Its great coverage!

Alex taking shots at her management in this tweet made me LOL
Quote:
“alexandramusic Alexandra Burke
Twitter is just great. I love how I find out more about myself through the internet and my fans.. then from those who work with me. SMH”

And she's apparently doing duets with one of the finalists on Polish XF...

Oh s**t! I don't know what to watch now...

BTW, Alexandra's Ustream is whats up at 7:30 with a surprise special guest...

Methinks, she will make a single announcement and the special guest is the featured artist...but then Alex does get worked up alot...

This tweet does make me think that she is making some sort of announcement though...
