She shouldn't be performing anywhere, aside from the odd private gig here and there....but Modest/Syco are always full of brilliant ideas

My point is, if she can't perform at T4OTB then she shouldn't really be performing anywhere...the label should be making her focus on finishing the album, not having her perform at village fairs or whatever it is...

That won't be down to the label, it'll be a management issue - Alex will get paid from her gigs, the label gets paid from the stuff they do (and then eventually alex after the money's been paid back), so anything she does 'extra curricular' if you like, is all about getting Alex some wages.

It's exactly the same with when Leona was performing at these strange car events when everyone was saying she needed to get back to recording, the label really has no say over when she gets booked and paid for performing.

My guess is by making her play these small gigs they wanna keep her fresh in everyones memory, it'll make promo for Album #2 a bit easier.

So Pixie Lott's album has overtaken Overcome. I knew it would. 30,000 more copies sold.

The re-release could have been promoted more.

Anyway, Pixie Lott has sent her new song All About Tonight to radio. I don't like it.

It is released on 4th September.

August/September releases are filling up:

Olly Murs new song 21st August
Sugababes and Pixie Lott- 4th September

And new releases from JLS, Leona, Rebecca , One Direction

Looking forward to hearing Leona's new track ....possible push-back for Alex, i imagine.... but i always assumed that Alex wouldn't release anything before October, anyway. Despite what has been said...there's never been a direct quote from Alex regarding a radio premiere, just her usual "very soon"...which is always 2 months+ away in her book and a pretty standard answer for a popstar these days

I think it's just a way for her to earn money, really. The gigs she's playing are so small and insignificant...that they can't be anything else but money jobs. Unless it's Glastonbury, all other fesitvals (televised or not) have no real effect on an artist's profile/album sales.

I don't see why Leona's single would have any bearing on Alex's. Is Alex even fully signed to Syco anymore? What about the RCA deal?

1. Unless her brother is completely clueless (He said again last week that he was counting down the days to her single being unveiled, and that she would be doing so towards the end of the month). I think he knows what he's talking about.

2. Tweamburke, her official Twitter fanbase announced yesterday that a competition will be run for the biggest and best promo once the single is announced.

3. Alex herself told Rich Clarke at Wireless that it would be unveiled towards the end of the month, and said at the M&Ms store opening in the video above that we would hear it "very, very soon".

Sure, we haven't heard it officially from her, but there has been zero confirmation from Leona either.

Cool, my main point is that just because there is are murmurings about a Leona single doesn't in any way mean we won't be hearing Alex's before the end of July.

Yeah I agree.

It's not like Syco (if Alex is still in a joint deal with them) spread their releases out. They all happen in the winter.

Cher's single is released at the end of July with Olly's at the end of August. Leona's new single is rumoured to be released early August. I can see Alex releasing her single exactly a year on from 'Start Without You'. Early September with a premiere late July and a video mid/late August.

Her ties with Syco will remain very strong, she wasn't initially picked up by RCA.

And all the big Sony labels are one big family, anyway...they wouldn't want the XF alumni to clash or let them clog up all the upcoming release weeks. For one ...their management would be in shambles as they're all handled by the same PR/management companies.

Her brother has said a lot of things before, the thing is...it's not up to him or Alex....the label can change their minds at any given time and they always will take other artists on their roosters into consideration. She's been saying "very, very soon" since April...it's a pretty standard response to keep suspense, really.

It seems you won't be convinced, whatever is said. We'll see what happens very soon, but I am 99% sure that we'll be hearing the single before the end of July.

Nothing has been confirmed for Leona date-wise either!

I actually want them to get it right and push this back until mid/late August...with a September release.

Not in a rush to hear it TBH, i'm actually more interested in how the launch will pan out more than anything because it will set precedent for the entire album era. First singles are crucial.

I'd hate for it to just pop up on a random, early morning radio show like Olly's single has with no teasers, early reviews by the press, artwork/promo, hype etc...

That's fair enough, but pop is a fickle industry and if the single is ready, then they should release it, as people are tiring of the old material (Her last "proper" single was SWY, which divided people. She can't be expected to be performing Bad Boys at festivals in 2011, with no new material.

Presumably the release was pushed back from April to get those things right. They've invested heavily in her, I'm sure it will be released to fanfare. If it premieres in late July then she will have at least a month if not six weeks or more to promote etc. I can't see how that would be problematic.

Also if two singles are to be released before the album, then they need to be releasing sooner rather than later.

Lol, I like it too, but my favourite will ALWAYS be All Night Long (from the Overcome era anyway)...that song just never gets old for me...and this song shows off her range so well...its probably because the demo of the track leaked, and it was the first song I heard that could potentially be for Alex...and I was so excited when she actually recorded it...

I just hope there are tracks that manage to top this on album 2...

Seriously, how many times is Alex going to go into the studio before we get to hear the single?

Should be 17 more days left until we hear it.

I have no idea...album still isn't finished by the sounds of things...

At least we have some good news with all the 'Collide' stuff happening, but seriously Alexandra needs to let us know what is going on with the single...she's been saying that we'll hear it very soon since April, and its getting kinda boring now...the LLAT looks more fun atm...

She could at least give us another Ustream...
