Not to use it in the pejorative sense, but I think enemies like that clearly establish that main Doctor Who is a family show, not a children's show.

I agree. DW villains certainly look better than that. No offence meant, I love the turkeymen

It's us stupid grown-ups and our unwillingness to suspend disbelief that I blame.

These new aliens remind me of The Skeksis, from The Dark Crystal. Only cheaper looking

This is no assumption towards the quality of the episode, story or series. But I was a little disappointed with that. No Luke, quite poor looking aliens (thank heavens I can use my imagination) and a cheesy backwards shuffle that was poorly edited to be playing backwards. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I'm having quite a bad day, so 'tis allowed.

Never seen Jo before, but I'm a sucker for these 'former character returns' anyway...she seems awesome from this brief clip alone.

They're definitely shuffling backwards, Abomination! It'd have cost more to have Clyde's dialogue reversed or dubbed over each time plus the film itself reversed rather than just ask the actors to actually shuffle backwards!

I presume the enemies aren't really going to kill the Doctor? Just torture him and leave him tied up somewhere for SJ to rescue at the last minute?

I think it is something along the lines of that Sarah Jane hears through UNIT that the Doctor is dead and only her and Jo can prove he isn't! Isn't Matt only in it for about 4 minutes at the end of ep 2?

Still, the kids finding him tied up with his mouth and eyes sewn shut would be better.
(As long as he survives at the end)

I'm not sure that would be 100% suitable for the target audience... maybe an excuse to launch Sarah Jane Adventures Later or Sarah Jane Adventures in the City?

Or just have it in Doctor Who?
(Or Torchwood if it's going to show him setting his hair on fire while blindly trying to burn through the stitches with his sonic screwdriver, and hammering on the walls of the soundproof room while Amy is looking for him upstairs.)

Actually if it's going to cross over into Torchwood, then it can be like this:
Amy finds the Doctor and lets him out of the room. She tries to unstitch his eyes but the blood has started to set and she can't. She puts him in the TARDIS and tries to fly it to where Rory is working, but crashes it into a wall. She staggers out of the crashed TARDIS, rushes into the hospital and hammers on the office door yelling "Rory! Rory!" and he says "Just a minute" and then we'll just see Rory's secretary running naked down the fire escape, and that's it until next week!

I heard that any sufficiently cheesy and mechanical episode of Doctor Who becomes indistinguishable from Torchwood as soon as you throw in *nudge* *nudge* nudity *wink*.

Yes, they are very 'Muppety'.

I prefer aliens that aren't based on animals. Rhinos, pigs, vultures, where's the imagination?
