Having looked at preliminary schedules for that day, it appears 7 couples will perform on Friday and 7 will perform on the Saturday. Did anyone know this? Can they really get through 7 performances in just one hour?

Dances only last around 1:30, the rest of the time is just faffing about so 1hour seems a bit generous

They probably need a whole hour to accommodate Bruce's constant rabbiting!

If they gag Brucie, Tess & the judges it could be over in 20 mins,

I think it will be plenty of time, especially as we've had the launch show.

I'm surprised, too.

I thought SCD promoted itself as a "family" show, thus its early time slot on Saturdays. Having a later Friday show seems odd.

I'm surprised it's on so late, too. Saturday's show is listed for 6pm.

That's better, and it'll be a longer show as Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow are performing, and presumably the pros will perform both nights.

I'm guessing the late slot on Friday is because they don't want to move Eastenders? I expected Strictly straight after the One Show at 7.30pm, with Eastenders moving to 8.30pm just for the one week. The show was always going to be an hour or more, would be pointless doing a Friday show otherwise.

They wouldn't move EastEnders to 8.30 because BBC1 and ITV1 have an unwritten agreement now not to clash it with Coronation Street.

An unwritten agreement has no real validity though

But basically the BBC's hands were tied then, they couldn't put Strictly any other time unless they cancelled the One Show.

It's not the first time they've cancelled Eastenders altogether and just shown the BBC3 repeat at 10pm.

Even more odd... the Radio Times listing for the Saturday has Strictly listed as 6.00 - 7.05 on BBC1, but only 6.00 - 6.30 on BBC HD!!PPrior to that, there's a Planet Earth listed 5.30 - 6.00, (only 30 mins, not the normal hour), with another one hour episode 6.30 - 7.30

Looks like the schedules will get a bit of fine-tuning ......

As already said, an hour is more than enough time for 7 dances; but I find it odd that the Beeb would put the show on at 9.00pm - the same time as they are showing dwts on Watch!

Well, as DWTS is on a pay channel, and the BBC should not be bothered about what is on pay channels (even if it is one part-owned by BBC Worldwide), I am not at all surprised.

Still, that doesn't help those who would watch both and don't have a PVR or access to iPlayer/Sky+ etc

That seems far too late for the opening show of the series! I'm surprised they didn't just double EE up on thurs or something.

Be interesting to know, among those who have Watch, which show they will choose to watch? My choice will definitely be DWTS, but I accept I'm probably in the minority..

I agree, but aren't they paying Chris Evans too much for that?
