Hi I have a friend in Wales who has a video recorder and since the digital switch over his video recorder for home movies etc and they both no longer work and I can't work out why this would no longer work as it should work as connected through a scart and has nothing to do with the old analogue or digital signal. Some one please help wx

Thanks daz

The only thing I can think of if the video was getting time from TV signal and without one it won't work but TBH, TV signal switch off and video not working on SCART don't sound related.

What make and model are his TV and VCR?

These two faults don't sound related, or you haven't explained what you mean properly.

You should be able to either:

If the VCR has two or more SCART sockets -

Connect a digibox via SCART to the VCRs SCART input, and then choose one of the AV inputs on the VCR

If the VCR has one SCART socket -

This means the SCART is one combined input and output and can be a pain in the arse if you want multiple connections, especially if the single SCART is being used to output a signal to the TV.* Plug the digibox into the SCART, and select the correct AV input.

*If the VCR has just one SCART and it's being used to connect the VCR to the TV, then you'll have to use a standard RF flylead from the "TV OUT" on the back of the VCR to the aerial input on the back of the TV, and then tune your TV to the VCR's output (refer to the TV's instruction booklet on how to do this).
