Why another 13 episodes? It's flagging a bit this series. Surprised they didn't cut the series order.

But I guess it's good they are sticking with it and not chucking in the towel at the first signs of trouble. It may bounce back.

Surely Downton is 'appointment to view' TV for the AB1s?

It's aimed a different demographic than X-Factor. I believe it would have been a big hit whenever it was scheduled.

Perhaps that's a tape-checked figure? I know last week it ran about 21:00-22:00 instead of 21:00-22:05, so it might've finished slightly early once again.

Edit: Ah yes, it finished at 22:01 so I think the DS figure will have removed the 22:00-22:05 period, hence the slightly higher rating.

It would be interesting to see a demo breakdown for both.

maybe that's including HD?

I can't see Konnie returning with the next series. To not even be able to retain anywhere close to 10% of the ITV1 audience or even break 1m is dreadful and the reception to her has been very negative.

Yep, that's a very poor figure for Xtra Factor. The same episode last year had 1.65m! And that's even though the main show last year had fewer viewers than yesterday.

I wonder how much is due to Downton's success though?

The Xtra Factor was decreasing before DA started anyway

ITV1 had Doc Martin in the same slot last year getting similar figures to Downton Abbey, and Xtra Factor held up perfectly well.

I definitely think Xtra Factor has been underperforming this series. It started off well for the first few weeks but since the bootcamp stage, it hasn't been hitting the same heights as last year. It's also probably having a knock-on effect on Only Way is Essex, which although rated well, could've got 1m+ if it had the same sort of lead-in as last year's Xtra Factor.

Downton Abbey and Xtra Factor I'd say have 2 audiences at each extreme end of the scale with hardly anyone interested in both shows. But for those who are, there is also ITV2+1. The show hasn't changed apart from the host, the ratings for the main show are up yet in excess of 0.6m viewers have gone missing in a year which is a good multi channel audience in itself.

Is Konnie to blame or is it simply the case that nobody was that bothered/surprised about either Storm Lee or Diva Fever leaving the competition?

Xtra Factor's figures will head skywards as soon as there is a remotely shocking result.

I think Konnie is the main problem. My memory is not that good but i'm sure Holly hosting last year most shows were over 1 million.

Holly had that all important likeability factor, she also had more connections then Konnie who's not really gelling

This is true. I remember the Jedward/Lucie result last year benefited Xtra Factor hugely.

No need to hide. I don't attack people, but I do get terribly bored when people ask the same thing every day and apparently ignore everyone's answers. I've decided the best thing to do is just skip your posts from now on, as you seem to everybody else's.

STV seem to be treating Law and Order in the same way ITV1 treat Midsomer Murders - filler on non-football weeks. So guess the series will finish after 4 more non-football Wednesdays

That was the week they aired some old documentary and Cheetah Kingdom. Since then Taggart has been on instead, so I doubt the STV share will be so bad

According to wikipedia, Rikki (who? ) went at the same stage last year but Xtra Factor still got 1.6m viewers.

I've looked back on this thread and no one has confirmed whether or not the ratings include HD for ITV2.

Sorry. I'm just using logic to interpret the figures.

We know that BBC HD and ITV1 HD report figures separately and and the ratings are suffixed by inc. HD or not as appropriate.

We know that C4 C5, E4 report their HD figures amalgamated, so never a mention of HD.

So logically, if as it's been confirmed, ITV2 HD is reporting HD separately, it should either say inc. HD or not.
