Peter Andre: The Next Chapter was also down about 17% week-on-week, getting 758k (3.1%) including +1 last night, a drop from the previous week's 925k (3.9%).

ITV2 have made a mistake airing it twice a week, they should have kept it to Sunday only.

I imagine all that tabloid furore over lesbian sex scenes and clips of Roxanne McKee getting it on are appealling to the BBC3 demo

Not ratings related but Sky are doing a very impressive series of reports about the Taliban today and this article gives an interesting insight into how originally Sky planned to hold debates in Afghanistan around the time of the Leaders Debate in the UK but eventually ended up with the 'Inside the Taliban' reports that are airing today.

Good night for Channel 4... when was the last time that was said? Solid overall for BBC1 despite a drop for The Apprentice, and Champions League did fairly well considering it was 4-0 at half time.

Don't be surprised, like last year, though to see a drop for ITV's line-up as its Halloween Weekend.

Not surprising as it did very well, I wonder if they'll air it Sunday-Monday rather than Mondays as I imagine it would be boosted not only by Corrie but also X Factor. With Doc Martin returning in 2011, I wonder if ITV1 will air it on a different night due to Downton Abbey as it did well on Sundays but I imagine they'll use on Mondays instead.

The Apprentice is doing great but it doesn't have the same momentum that the previous series, it will increase in time but I wonder if the move from March to October has hurt it a little.

Football did well for ITV1 while Channel 4 and Five had a decent night. Cowboy Builders is strong while NCIS repeats are holding up suprisenly well against The Apprentice.

Channel 4 also seem to doubling up on Ramsay's Best Restaraunt as it now a 9 part series rather than twelve meaning that Seven Days has been pushed back to 11pm.

Major sigh of relief for NBC to see SVU recover from what appears to have been a blip last week. Especially encouraging to have LOLA recover.

Criminal Minds is doing really well for CBS just now - the only crime procedurals beating it in the demo are NCIS and NCIS:LA. CBS will be hoping that success is repeated when the Criminal Minds spin-off launches midseason.

On the strength of returning series, ABC has recorded year-to-year increases on Monday-Wednesday for the third consecutive week.

The SCD and XF shows on October 30th look short after recent weekends!

Film 2010 did well last night, bringing in 1.25m (10.8%). That's an increase on last week's debut of 1.1m (9.1%) despite airing in a later timeslot this week.

EDIT: The last series averaged 747,400 (but in a slightly later timeslot).

Despite an average retention from Modern Family, Cougar Town's 3.1 in demo is encouraging for ABC. The comedy slots for ABC are improving from last year, so any good news is better than bad news. The Defenders will not make it past December. CBS has to weed out a show for midseason and so far, this seems to be the one.

As for The Whole Truth, I think ABC will just air the 13 episodes until the midseason replacement comes. Normally, ABC would cancel at this point, but since none of the upcoming shows are airing until January/March or find any established shows to repeat, they might as well burn off the episodes to fill in the schedule. Scrubs and Better Off Ted from last season performed in an abysmal level (similar to TWT) and they showed virtually all episodes, I think. However, part of me thinks that ABC have a game plan for TWT. Don't know what, but I have a feeling.

Cool, I really like the new series, it feels much fresher, and I prefer two people talking giving their opinions, rather than JR just droning on which felt dated IMO.

CBS has just picked up Hawaii 5-0, Mike & Molly, Blue Bloods, S*&t My Dad Says and The Defenders (surprisingly) for a full season.

Interesting but not surprising, I reckon Defenders and SMDS will get shortened orders of 17-18 episodes to make way for CMSB and Mad Love while Hawaii Five-0, Mike and Molly and Blue Bloods will get the usual 22-24 episodes.

I'm thought that'd be that for The Defenders. CBS have enough in reserve to forget a show that brings in 10.0/2.2. Bit of a surprise move.

As for the UK - I don't think ITV's rating was helped by Inter Milan seemingly cruising so early on. BBC1 had a good night, though I'm slightly surprised at The Apprentice's rating; I thought it'd do better than that.

The Defenders looks quite good. I like that it's set in Vegas and has some interesting characters.

With CBS, FOX and NBC already having their full season pickups on new shows, which new shows this fall will ABC pick up for the full 22-24?

My guess is No Ordinary Family (from 17 to full 22-24), Detroit 1-8-7 (just) and Better With You. The Whole Truth is definitely gone at this rate.

I used to think it was shaky with Detroit 1-8-7, mainly because of The Defenders on CBS. But, since The Defenders got a full season pickup, it might be capable for Detroit 1-8-7.

Do we know yet what specails the BBC is making for this yeasr Children in Need, obviously there is the standard EastEnders specail, nothing from The Bill this year however

Think I'll give it a miss. I'm not against the idea of a US remake of Shameless, but as you said from the trailer, it looks to lack the grittiness and charm of the original. I might watch the first episode, if it's well received on here but otherwise I think I'll stick with the origional (which is airing around the same time).

When Ross started they announced it would be around eleven o'clock every week - when they still had the Nine O'Clock News of course - but that went out of the window soon enough. But there's no surprise in a big relaunch getting a slightly better slot, and it's hardly niche programming, everyone can go to the pictures. Imagine is at 10.35 and that covers far more esoteric fare.
