Read in News of the World today that Fern Britton will be presenting a chat show on Channel 4, I can only presume this will be in the 5pm slot following the success of her show under "The 5 O'Clock Show" banner earlier this year.

Looks like So You Think You Can Dance is returning a bit later next year on BBC1, in March/April. This is a guess based on the applications form on their website which states that contestants have to be 18 or over by April 16th. If the live shows were beginning in January like this year, then it would've said "18 or over by January...".
I guess it'll start after the Six Nations ends and will fill the gap left by there being no Andrew Lloyd Webber show. Doctor Who might have to start early (6pm-ish) once again during its Spring run because I doubt the BBC will want SYTYCD to clash against BGT, which will be airing on ITV1, for too long. I think that new Magicians show will probably air in January in the slot SYTYCD was airing this year. |

C4 Million Pound Drop ad just aired during XF. Sort of thing people have said C4 should do more often!

Do we know judges for So You Think... yet?
I know Nigel wasn't at auditions and almost 100% won't be at live shows. Advert for Million Pound Drop during final XF ad break. |

I've noticed Masterchef: The Professionals has been doing really well for BBC2 this year, getting 3 million+ most episodes, for 3 nights a week. What kind of ratings was the normal Masterchef achieving when it was moved to BBC1?

Mind you, if BGT starts at 7.30/45 for the usual superlength episodes, where does everything go? You wonder if the schedulers think this stuff through in advance sometimes? |

If true I hope they format it around her rather than slot her into the 5pm Paul O'Grady format.

Source: DS All time low? TV Burp deserves to dip further than it did if yesterday's standard is anything to go by. The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing are doing brilliantly at the moment. Merlin is performing excellently opposite The X Factor and Casualty is at least holding up. |

Does that include +1? I wouldn't be surprised if +1 got a higher rathing than the original showing.
I know the competition was tough but even aside from last night it's definitely not working this year. Konnie seemed like a fairly safe choice but I think she's probably on her way out. The I'm A Celebrity spin-off did well last year with Caroline Flack hosting and she was considered a leading candidate originally. Emma Willis is the other name you could see doing this kind of thing. Matt Edmondson seems to have had some favourable reviews for his online show. I suppose it also depends on who hosts the main show next year. I can't think of any male host that would get it (maybe Steve Jones) so I'm thinking they'll go back to a female presenter which makes it more likely that the spin-off will have a male host. Charlie Brooker's next Screenwipe review of X Factor or Britain's Got Talent could be interesting. I don't think he was ever too fond ot Cowell (to put it lightly) but once he has sacked his wife, maybe even less so! |

Merlin has been recomissioned by the BBC: Quote:
MAGIC news today for fans of Merlin, which has been recommissioned for a fourth BBC1 series. Unsurprising news considering how well it's been rating this series. Slightly shorter run than normal, though, but it will be airing next Autumn according to the report.
The current series is being watched by an average of over six million viewers, even though it has been pitched into direct battle with ITV1 ratings juggernaut The X Factor. Ten new episodes will begin filming next March for screening in the UK later in 2011. Including the arrival of the Knights of the Round Table. Colin Morgan (Merlin), Bradley James (Prince Arthur) and the rest of the cast are now a global hit in 183 countries. Quite aside from starring in a range of merchandising spin-offs pushing the Merlin brand. The new series will be three episodes shorter than the 13 broadcast in each of the previous seasons of the fantasy drama. BBC Drama boss Ben Stephenson, Controller Drama Commissioning, said: “Merlin continues to perform outstandingly well against The X Factor and offers audiences an alternative treat on Saturday nights. “I’m pleased to confirm that the magical world of Camelot will be returning next year for a fourth series of this fresh and modern retelling of a classic British legend.” Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy, Executive Producers for Shine TV, which makes the series, said: “We are both delighted with the continuing success of Merlin and relish the chance to take the series to the next level with the long-awaited arrival of the Knights of the Round Table.” http://lifeofwylie.com/2010/10/25/merlin-series-four/ |

Great news about Merlin although a shorter run is dissapointing, I guess with Doctor Who airing in the Autumn, a 13 part run would be hard to schedule.
Going off-topic from X Factor, I just finished watching Surf's Up and really enjoyed it considering it's not a movie by Pixar or Dreamworks. I wonder what the ratings will be like for Five, I'm thinking around 1.4-1.5m. |
