- Touch of Frost rating ammended so it's for the full slot, not just 68-minutes which BARB did. It would've been in 10th place anyway.
- BBC News audience is included in the BBC's Prime Ministerial Debate rating because it was an exact simulcast of BBC1/HD. If you don't include BBC News, it had 7.64m.”

My god corrie is 7th
Lets hope there's no change for the number 1 spot unless it says EastEnders 18.9m (25/12/10)

It was the time Barbara Dickson was on it- probably about three years ago now Didn't realise it had been so long.

It's a very under rated soap. Doesn't seem to get the recognition it deserves in my opinion

It is the Rape storyline inolving Vivian and the ongoing Lymes Disease/rape storyline for Julia is just blowing the other soaps apart and i think it deserves abit more recognition.
Not sure when Barbara dickson was on the show but there's been so many high profile and big names in Letherbridge over the past 10 years o forget who has been though the doors of the mill

The Julia storyline is outstanding. I know quite a bit about lymes disease and am furious that it never crossed my mind.

Outstanding, it really is

CBS has had the best start to the season so far - no new shows flopping and their current hits have held up well.”

The only slight concern for them so far has been that the declines on Tuesday were a bit sharper than they might have hoped. But the scheduling moves on Mon/Wed/Thur have really paid off. They've eliminated their weakest hour (comedies on Wednesdays at 8pm).

They also have the top 3 premieres - Hawaii Five-O, Mike & Molly and Sh*t My Dad Says all got 3.9 ratings. H5O didn't start huge (given all the hype) but having seen some of the bombs this week, it's looking better! Now it's all about retaining their premiere audiences.

Even if The Defenders flops in the coming weeks, they've got midseason cover. You would also have to assume that with Undercover Boss and CSI: Miami, they'll strengthen their Sunday line-up and CSI:NY should do well tonight.

The scheduling gamble has definitely paid off for CBS.

Quote:
“ABC- Another flop for them. I wonder how they're going to replace both The Whole Truth and My Generation? The Dana Delaney show is a cert for one of the spots but what about the other one? Solid for Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, even though the former is 20% down year-on-year. Still can't understand why it's more popular than House though, I've watched both and thought House was so much better.”

I think The Whole Truth might get a bit longer now because they've got to work out what they're going to do. The other issue is that they might just be throwing Body of Proof into a hole at 10pm on Wednesdays between strong crime /legal based competition on CBS and probably NBC (who will have Law & Order: LA). If it flops there, then they are really screwed.

For midseason they have Off The Map (medical series from Shonda Rhimes), V (low 2's last season), Rookie Blue (mid-high 1's in the summer) and two sitcoms. They've also got a magazine show, Primetime, which they could put on if required.

Quote:
“FOX- Decent for Bones but Fringe seems to be struggling and is too lead-in dependent.”

I think, having finally found a decent Thursday line-up, FOX are terrified of breaking it up. So I can see Fringe holding on there for now as long as it's above 2.0. CBS have procedural, ABC have serialised drama and NBC have comedy.

Comedy also dominates in the key ad demo. 2 of the 3 highest rated new series are comedies (Mike & Molly & Sh*t My Dad Says). ABC's best premiere numbers came from its only new sitcom (Better With You). And NBC's second best premiere is Outsourced. They all retained 80%+ of their lead-ins. The only disappointment in comedy was at FOX on Tuesday.

With the exception of Cougar Town, all returning comedies recorded strong numbers. Far better vs last year than procedurals & serialised drama. Two and a Half Men, Modern Family and The Office were all up.

So far, 4 of the top 5 scripted series are classed as comedies (Glee, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men & The Big Bang Theory).

And it's the shows that either launched last year (Glee & Modern Family) or really broke through (The Big Bang Theory) that are winning headlines. None of the new series started with a bang - instead, we've seen 3 huge flops. And I'm not including Undercovers in that - despite the fact that 2.0 was hugely disappointing.

Surprised he lasted so long to be honest and even more surprised that they allowed him to create a new prime time schedule before firing him. CNN US has the resources, it just needs someone to tie it all together and make it feel fresh and modern, at the moment it is dull and gimmicky. Just because they have chosen to stick to the honorable non-partisan news position does not mean the channel has to lack personality and energy. Less importantly there is also a rather bizarre overuse of Twitter on air.

Not holding out a huge amount of hope in terms of a resurgence in ratings and quality with both the new schedule (although Piers Morgan might add a bit of boldness and personality) and in terms of the new boss, Ken Jautz, who turned CNN's sister channel HLN into a showbiz and crime driven 'news' channel. It did wonders for the ratings but hopefully he will see that CNN is a different proposition that should not be brought downmarket. Anyway will be fascinating to see how the new shows fare in prime time, with Elliot Spitzer and Kathleen Sparker starting in a few weeks prior to Piers in the new year.

He'll stick around until the regulatory hurdles are cleared. Current owner General Electric gave him a handsome 3 year deal just a few months ago so he'll get a very nice payoff. Despite that, I'm sure Conan O'Brien is finding it all very amusing.

I wouldn't mind being Jeff Zucker at the moment

As for CNN, I hope the new boss doesn't bring in people like Glenn Beck to CNN. Beck's the apitomy of my distaste for America.

The creator of Lone Star is taking the hammering in good spirit. His blog is getting some attention as well;

Quote:
“Do you like to root for the underdog? Because I've got an underdog of epic proportions for you. We're talking long, long shot. Like a legless horse in the Kentucky Derby. A blind basketball team facing the 95 Bulls. If somehow Rudy and Rocky had a baby it still wouldn't be as big an underdog as our little show... Lone Star.

You may have heard about last Monday night when several heavily sequined, dancing celebrity, conspiracy laden, bowling shirted nuclear bombs landed directly on our heads. When everyone who watched your show is a paid critic or someone you went to high school with, that's less of a premiere than a slideshow.

...

For us to survive we're going to have to pull off a minor miracle. Statistically, new shows tend to lose viewers in their second week. We're aiming to gain them. In fact, screw it, let's just double our audience. The good news is, our audience was so small that if my Mom AND my Dad watch it we'll pretty much be there.

Here's the thing: it really is a good show. Don't take it from me, take if from these guys here and here and lots of other places. Are these all just people in ivory towers with tweed jackets and glasses of scotch who hate America? Possibly! But my Mom also loved it and she LOVES America just like you.

So here's the plan. You go deep. All of you. You and millions of your friends. And Monday night, down by a lot with only seconds on the clock, we'll throw the ball up, an impossibly long arcing pass into a host of defenders who are taller and flashier and stronger and probably more well endowed than all of us, and maybe, just maybe, it's one of those moments where the thing everyone said COULD NOT HAPPEN actually just... does.”

Full thing here.

CBS already has a midseason comedy lined up with Mad Love so if Shit My Dads Say falters and it may then I would imagine Mad Love will replace it by January or February as it has a 13 episode order.

Will be interesting how Blue Bloods does tonight, it's critically acclaimed and a good lead in in the form of CSI: NY. Will skew old but it's Friday so it won't matter too much.

CSI: Miami doesn't premiere for another week as CBS think there will be a football overrun so there will a 90 minute Amazing Race and Undercover premiering at 10pm rather than 9pm.

Sh*t My Dad Says is the #1 new show in the US in the key ad demo. In final numbers it rose to a 4.0. The Big Bang Theory was also up to a 4.9, tying Two and a Half Men.

The Mentalist added a tenth to tie CSI on a 3.4. On ABC, the gap between Grey's & Private Pratice grew with Grey's up to a 5.4 and PP down to a 3.2.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street did well in the 8pm hour for a change, as did Watchdog on BBC1. Law and Order seems to be struggling which is a shame - I just don't think Thursday is the night for crime drama.

In the US - CBS seem to be enjoying a good premiere week. ABC is not having much in terms of new hits though their strong performers are continuing that trend. Considering how NBC have struggled of late I'm surprised it's taken so long for Jeff Zucker to be sacked.

I think X Factor which is doing amazingly well this year will prove more of a threat to EastEnders than Corrie. That said EE's live ep figure was unthinkable so maybe the live Corrie will be a dark horse.

I'll get this in now to cover my pro-BBC arse, 'Well as it's the 50th I'd expect at least a couple of million more than what EE had so 17m average should be what we're looking at here.'

Originally Posted by Jaycee Dove:

EE did it as a gimmick no question but it was new for them at least so the appeal was there of seeing the show live for the first time. I don't think anyone who accuses Corrie of copying means in the literal sense of who went live first, they mean in the context of the big soap anniversaries. Corrie already went live in 2000 to 'hark back to their early days', so they can't use that excuse anymore. From a gimmick POV it's unoriginal for them. Anyway most TV was live in the 60s and Corrie was only made as such for a year (I'm sure it was actually less than a yr) so it's not that historical even for them.

Not really.
EastEnders was a live whodunnit and stunt
so not the same at all.
JUst remember the next time corrie does a 4/3/2/1 hander
just think thats EastEnders idea and corrie are copying that as thats kind of an Enders trademark

Not sur if this has been mentioned but apparently TV Burp is returning Saturday 9th October...isn't this the first live XF show aswell? Anyone have any idea where it's going to be slotted, because surely ITV aren't stupid enough to schedule it before ASFF, considering the success of the last couple of series?

I think the options are:
1)Scheduled between ASFF and XF
2)ASFF gets dropped and returns in January
3)Scheduled after XF (unlikely though)

EDIT: What a coincidence, D.M.N. posts the provisional schedule just as I post this and looks like a good scheduling move imo.

I think the BGT rating is wrong?! The final figures were 12,826,000 for ITV1 and 671,000 for HD.

Therefore 12,826,000 + 671,000 =13,497,000m, which would be rounded up to 13.50m?!

EDIT- infact it looks like all the official ratings have changed in ITV's Top 30 list.

For example: The Monday Live Show had 11.18m but now it says 11.22m. Tuesday Live Show was 10.63m, but now 10.64m. Thursday Live Show was 9.86m, but now 9.91m. Friday Live Show was 9.65m, but now 9.67m. And this now explains why the rating for the final is different. It was 12.81m, but now 12.83m. Also so audition ratings are now slightly different.

BARB must've changed the ITV1 BGT final rating very recently because it previously said 12.81m hence how I got the 13.48m figure. But yes, it looks like it now got 13.50m.

Edit: Looks like all the BGT ratings are different going by your post!

Thanks D.M.N.

QI down on last week, but still OK against Corrie. Interesting to see WILTY up, despite it being a repeat.

Corrie getting a boost from the Natasha storyline, but still quite a low share for the 2nd episode. POG staying very steady 3 episodes in. Seems to have found a loyal audience.
