As for the provisional schedules for 9th October - ITV seems about right and I hope it doesn't change miuch. As has been said, I think Strictly Come Dancing will need more time than that so I presume they will just change Comedy Roadshow to a half hour repeat or drop it all together. |

Is it not going to get too sensationalist very quickly if it keeps going down that route & wont audiences tire of these constant hyping of stories?

And they're not drama's.

There aren't massive storylines every week, in anycase, EE is a drama, so of course every so often there should be big storylines. All soaps do this.

I would think viewer fatigue is less likely when there is a season break? I'm just thinking that sensationalism is what did for Brookside,..,......... |

well maybe dan is just a bit excitable then because every week he is breathlessly telling us about the next massive storyline.

I'm just thinking that sensationalism is what did for Brookside,..,......... ![]() I think the last massive storyline EastEnders had was obviously the Vic fire but that was really just an episode and of course peggys exit but before that you are looking at Lucas Murder reveal back at the start of the summer. EastEnders is a soap and therefore should be able to carry alot of Big storylines but the brilliant thing with EastEnders is they tend to run quite a few storylines at once so there is usually 2 storylines running alongside something big but then i guess with it being based on familys that makes sense. The big storylines i refer to are a Death fueld by Alchol and a slow burner which is supose to build up over the next year (Stacey and Max Big climax springs to mind) And of course the Xmas storylines |

wonder how the Miliband docu-drama on More4 will have faired considering (from what I've seen anyway) it had very little promotion compared to previous dramas of that nature.

Well, they're not saying they can't show property stuff, just not all morning, which is a sensible enough strategy. Similarly there's got to be something other than Murder She Wrote on a loop.
As far as I'm concerned, the slot BBC1 need to sort out is 5.15 because when Neighbours went it gave them massive flexibility, but apart from one week of Land Girls and the Blue Peter fiftieth anniversary show, they've shown The Weakest Link there every single afternoon for two and a half years, which is ridiculous, it doesn't even do that well anymore, and you'd think they'd at least try another quiz there just to freshen things up and curb their reliance on it. Even ITV change the quizzes about. I'm not saying they have to axe it but what's the point of showing repeats of it? Yeah, 5.15pm could do with a bit of variety. They don't even have to have a 45-minute programme there. They could try out some 30-minute stuff. Although, presumably not Cash in the Attic, because they repeated that at 5.35pm for a week in December 2007 (when Neighbours was on a break) and it only got 1m viewers. |

ITV can't prop it up either though by giving over the schedule for three months on Monday nights. They need to make these dramas work any night they're on, and whatever night they'll always be issues. In theory Thursdays is no worse a slot than Mondays for ITV, and they'll always be competition from the BBC whichever night they put things on.
As you say, Fridays could be worth a shot. Crime stuff has done well there in recent years. Mondays would still be my choice, though, cos there's a fair bit of easily moved wishy-washy factual on Mondays at 9pm over the course of a year, which can easily be played out on another weeknight. |

Regarding Would I Lie to You?, hasn't the series now finished? last week was a highlights show and now they've started showing repeats of a previous series.

Yeah, the trouble is they've shown too much faith in Law and Order on the basis of how it rated on Mondays, and that faith has turned out to be slightly misplaced.

New dramas on Monday + Law and Order on Thursdays = Higher ratings than Law and Order on Monday and New dramas on Thursdays which is something not noticed in this thread when every discussion is about individual shows ratings. There isn't that much factual shown on Mondays at 9 and most of it is at unattractive times of the year. |

No surprise EE is on top at the moment. Kat Slater is a role model to many fanatical EE viewers.
It's not like EE to have a storyline involving characters either leaving or returning to The Square. |

I can see why ITV have moved Law and Order, why block up one of the biggest slots of the week with a show that is already established.

As Pizza says, the scheduling of the 2nd half of the series will be a good indicator of whether ITV are happy with the current ratings or not. There's definitely space on Mondays next year to occupy it, especially as quite a few of their new dramas are ones which are likely to be stripped across a week (The Oaks/Injustice/The Jury/Kidnap & Ransom possibly) rather than airing weekly on Mondays. Well, they had 6 weeks of factual on Mondays during April/May which is a good time of the year. Those factual shows rated well but in the future it's probably better if ITV give dramas that slot because they're more expensive and need the Monday night Corrie support more than cheaper factual shows.
