If Strictly is lucky enough to be in a situation next year where there is no X-Factor and no Britain's Got Talent airing in the Autumn then I reckon it could well be pulling 10m-11m
averages on a weekly basis. Dr Who at 6:15pm followed by Strictly at 7pm would be an epic combination. Not to mention that Strictly would get all the tabloid attention with no X-Factor about.
Unfortunately, I think its likely one of the Cowell shows will run in the pre-Christmas months in one format or another, which is going to be a real headache for Strictly and Doctor Who (much younger audience than Merlin).

Looks like viewers drifted off from TXF after 21:30, which is similar to what was happening last year I think. Maybe that's why ITV want next week's show to finish 15 mins earlier?”
Interesting breakdown for the X-Factor. If you look at it closely it is losing viewers throughout the entire show from 8pm onwards, apart from the random increase in the 21:15 segment. I think its probably mostly down to people leaving to go on their Saturday nights out rather than it being too long because its losing viewers just half an hour in. Having said that, my personal viewing threshold is 2hrs of X-factor is enough for one night!
I do think ITV have to get through all the performances in one show on the Saturday though, otherwise the phone lines can't open until the 2nd performance show has aired, which would lose ITV a stack of money and be unfair on the acts who may have been forgotten about by going on the first show.
