Was The Only Way Is Essex a bit like The Hills with less attractive people and set in Essex instead of Los Angeles? I'm kind of tempted to watch it and yet part of me knows it's just going to be so cringeworthy!

A good start for it anyway.

Ratings for that should be out soon, but nothing available yet. Sky1's share increased though from 0.9% last Sunday to 1.2% last night so it should have done pretty well.

Exactly like The Hills, but a bit funnier.

Sorry, I thought this was a ratings thread

I would have thought that now some of the audience are paying to watch ITV2 programmes, the viewing figures are important.

I expected a little more for X Factor, not sure why it would lose viewers week on week. But you can't critisise too much with those ratings.

But you ask the same question every day. Does this include HD, does that include HD? Even when HD audiences for the big channels are still tiny. I think rzt had to address the same point twice with you over the weekend about what does and doesn't include HD and now here we are again.

Sorry, but is it really that important? It will either be included automatically, or if it's counted separately then it will likely be published on barb.co.uk on 18th October.

Note: The X-factor ran its entire slot, so there won't be any tape checking

Pretty big ratings for Countryfile, going up to 7million is huge for it and Strictly did well, 9.2m is still well above last year's early series levels.
I think X-Factor did well too, although down on last week, it is still up year-on-year, which is a pretty significant achievement in my book. Based on last week's ratings I was expecting higher but it will probably build as the weeks go by.

So a total of about 13.1m for TXF then. Still a good rating and 0.1m up last year!

Actually rzt didn't know about ITV2 HD, it was dave01 who said they're being reported separately.

I suppose for ITV it's very important. This is the first time that they've simulcast HD programmes via pay and no doubt Sky will be paying them a share of the subscription based on performance.

Regardless of who it was, someone already addressed the point. You're not still clutching at this straw that one day ITV2 might go completely pay are you, Derek? Based on some meaningless hypothetical posed in a BSkyB survey IIRC? When the calibre of programming is as far behind Sky1 as it was last night, it will never work. This is just a way of generating a bit of extra cash out of BSkyB that's all, it's never going to be that popular a service. They couldn't even if they wanted to put ITV2 HD on Freeview anyway as there isn't the capacity for it, so it makes sense for it to be a pay channel.

I wonder how much the atmospherics affected the ratings for ITV last night. There is quite a bit of talk about it over on the Freeview Forum. I lost Ch4 and all the ITV channels, and even this morning they were not completely back. I had to revert to watching The X Factor on Freesat.

I lost everything on Freeview. Had to watch via analogue - (only 4 channels though, CH5 gone lol), and the picture on that was absolutely terrible.

With HD included the ratings look much healthier for ITV.

Significantly Grand Designs cracks the 4.0m mark. The episode on September 29 becomes the sixth most watched programme on C4 this year with 4.42m viewers including +1. (Thanks to dave01 & his list for making that so easy to work out!)

But extraordinarily it was only narrowly the highest rated show on the C4 network that week, with The Inbetweeners hitting a new high of 4.08m including +1.

What a job Countryfile does in the early evening, still find it difficult to believe its even made the transition-let alone get 7 million for what is sometimes quite dry factual. Bringing back SCD results-even though the new format hasnt gone down too well, has made the BBC1 response to the XF dominated evening quite respectable and the CF/SCD/AR line up is about the best you could get as an alternative. i guess Single Father is pretty good too given whats gone before with Downton Abbey.

I bet there arent many here who, three years ago, would have been suggesting 12/13 million was a little bit disappointing which just goes to show how amazing the surge in XF has been. That they are magnificent figures is almost overlooked. The pot still boils.
