Very impressive figures for the BBC News Channel yesterday, must have one of the most watched channels during the day. A strong performance from Sky aswell. Any figures for the coverage last night yet?

No other figures for the news channels released yet.

484k (2.43%) excluding ITV2+1.

About half of Sunday's audience of 918k (5.2%), although the Sunday episodes might generally rate better than the Wednesday ones so probably better to wait and see how the episode in a few days time performs.

Or

Wallace & Gromit to get the 7pm Sunday slot right before SCD (Countryfile airing between 6-7pm), and Nigel Slater getting the Wednesday 7.30pm slot which would be the same slot as last year's series.”

The Sun says today that W&G lined up for a primetime weekday slot. The only primetime weekdays slot available in week 44 are Wednesday at 7.30 or Tuesday at 9pm.

Unless they want to move Holby City to 8.30 to give something the Tuesday 8pm slot.

When I first heard that the W&G series was arriving soon I thought it would take the Wednesday slot because Bang Goes The Theory is just finishing there and that would make Wednesday 7.30 the science slot for the Autumn.

I prefer rzt's 7pm Sunday prediction. Let's hope this is another example of The Sun making it up as they go along.

I imagine ITV2's thinking is that, in theory, it should inherit nearly as much from Peter Andre on a Wednesday as it does from Xtra Factor on a Sunday.

All we know for reasonable certainty is November as that was in some official document from an associate company a few weeks ago.

There was a post in the Sky forum today listing the frequency (same as BBC HD, one H one V, when both run together) and this gives a date of 3 November.

Not sure if that is for testing (this has not started yet) or launch.

It seems likely they would coincide with East Enders going HD as it is set to do sometime in the next few weeks (hence the fire that wrecked the Queen Vic and the Web Cam being off line whilst they rebuild the set for HD). That cam now shows a date in early November when it will be back on line.

ITV 3 and 4 HD are launching on Sky on 15 November and are already testing on channels 226 and 227, meaning ITV 2,3 and 4 HD will all have consecutive numbers and be the most logical of all the multi HD channels from any network!

The New Wallace and Gromit series is really exciting in terms of what ratings it could get!

We all know how high the Christmas special was, and though this is not an acutal episode, it still has Wallace and Gromit's name to it so it will be very exciting to see 1) where it is place and 2) what ratings it will get! (I hope it's a special on the prediction game )

Yep probably, although retention-wise 'Essex' held onto 67% of Peter Andre's audience, which was down from the 86% retention for Sunday's episode. Maybe to be expected, however, due to viewers dropping out after episode 1.

Peter Andre's show underperformed yesterday too, with only 725k which is the lowest I can remember it ever getting. Usually it's at the 1m mark or even higher than that sometimes.

Walace and Gromit would surely fit best early evening Saturday or Sunday before Strictly?

As long as Wallace and Gromit isn't against ITV's soaps, then its all fine... if it is put against ITV's soaps, then the BSI will have struck again.

The Wednesday 8pm slot will also be free for Wallace and Gromit as Waterloo Road is stopping for its mid-series break on October 27 so it could go at 8pm, perhaps with Simple Suppers at 8:30pm?

8pm is quite late for Wallace and Gromit.

I'd put it on a Saturday night right before Strictly. Best place for a family audience.

Every day this week there seems to have been scheduling news from ABC. Today, they've been making script orders. And usually, script orders become episode orders.

Brothers & Sisters:
4 additional scripts - originally ordered for reduced 18 episode season, should now fill the complete 22.

No Ordinary Family:
ABC's best performing new series. 4 additional scripts have been ordered. Possibly a precursor to a back 9 order.

Off The Map:
The upcoming medical series from Shonda Rhimes had a 13 episode order but has now been asked for an additional script to take the tally to 14.

No other new ABC series have received a script order.

B&S must have performed good enough to have the standard 22 episode order in total. Although, they had 24 episodes last season. It also looks like ABC has some faith for Off The Map as well.

Just noticed the HD ratings for The Apprentice, 419,000.

Highest rated programme on BBC HD since Sherlock over two months ago.

Shame the HD is pretty poor quality. Hardly worth the effort.

It was on at 8:30 on Christmas Day in 2008, cant remember what it got but I doubt it did that well with it being on so late.

I think you summed it up well in that last sentence.

If Robbie was here, he'd tell you in a flash.

20:35 - 25/12/08 - 16.15m - most watched programme of the year
19:00 - 01/01/09 - 07.48m

This may have been mentioned but C4 News' Twitter says that C4 have ordered a 6 part follow-up series based on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding which of course surprisingly did the business for them earlier this year.

5.45pm or so isn't early in the context of Saturday nights - viewers turn up when the shows arrive. Would be wasted though in a crowded schedule IMO - Sundays at 7pm makes more sense to me.

Christmas Day is somewhat different though.

Think it was commissioned fairly swiftly after the original back in January IIRC. Doubt it'll sustain the same kind of audience but should be comfortably above the 2m mark I'd have thought.

This is probably a thick question-but why are there seemingly different standards of broadcast HD? I just put it down to the fact that some situations dont lend themselves to look good in HD.

Not a thick question at all. I dont know myself although I guess you are right with it depending on the location/type of show. There is also upscaled HD and proper HD but Im not 100% sure what the difference is. Derek500 should know as he is the flag bearer for HD TV.

After a good Tuesday, disappointing figures for CNN U.S last night as the last few miners came up. Fox News had a staggering 7 million viewers at one point, beating the FOX broadcast network and NBC.
Quote:
“FNC: 7.066 million total viewers / 1.754M A25-54 (8:16-9 PM)
CNN: 2.671 million total viewers / 800K A25-54 (8:21-9 PM)
MSNBC: 1.097 million total viewers / 298K A25-54 (for the entire 8 PM ET hour. MSNBC did not carry the final rescues.)”
