Hello, davey.

Actually, it was cathrin who said it was unexpected, I was just agreeing with her So we have a nice agreeable moment, unlike some threads I could name

Speaking of which, you're not related to that JohnBoy Walton poster are you? I only ask because it's uncanny how much I agree with him! The only other person I agree with so much is you

I'm sure you're nothing like John Boy, though you are both very nice people, with excellent taste. (I know this because I agree with you both on many things)

I just wanted to echo the positive comments about this very interesting and pleasant thread! I've really enjoyed reading the posts, and have come away with a lot of food for thought.

Thanks for a great read. Bedtime now though, so it's "goodnight Jim-Bob" from me.

I know that many agree with you. I don't know indeed if I'd say it wasn't believable; just that it didn't really interest me.

Yes, I've watched all those. I'll concede that Last of the Time Lords is pretty much rubbish, but I liked the other three.

No, nostalgia is great, but as for recording things for posterity, video will age and degenerate much quicker. I can't think of a reason why video might be considered better, but 4 reasons for digital spring readilly to mind:
1)Better quality
2)Smaller and easier to store
3)Better longevity
4)Easier cueing of the required show / scene etc.

Anyway, this debate is probably a little off the track of this thread, apologies for dragging it here!!”

I agree with these and overall think that DVDs are far better than video, but I can think of advantages of videos - when you put a tape back in, the programme is in the same place as when you took it out and you don't have to wait ages for the menu to load!

I loved the "Are you alright" / "I'm always alright" exchange.

Yes, that was so touching. And used again in Forest of the Dead.
