You're referring to "Revenge of Zog" from January 1986.

That's the one (it was just on the tip of my tongue). Do you mind if I copy all your answers. I'm sure to get an "A". Otherwise I'm afraid I'm not going to do very well in the Doctor Who A-level. It might make an interesting thread though.

To be fair to Tony he was never nasty in the way Shoegazer was.

I agree with that, Adam.

Hi,

I may be over sensitive here and imagining digs where there aren't any.

But regarding audiobooks, audioplays, audiopresentations, audioperformances, notes about mixing them up and having different sections.

Well if that is a dig at my earlier post, then I apologise. I thought I was being helpful, but if it came across as condescending it wasn't meant to be. Sorry.

Tiggs I can asssure that it had nothing to do with your post. I think everyone referred to something completely else.

Lach's right - you're blameless. For once.

Absolutely not a dig at you, Tigger

It was the ....erm...conversation between ting and the others when ting got in a strop because people were saying "audiobooks " and he insisted they were "audioplays" or something (forget the details).

Edit; Sorry, lach and outside, started typing before your posts showed - I'm so slow!

I'm pleased you responded as well and of course outside.

I do that all the time! Still, at least Tigger-Roo will believe us (lach's a rather, ahem, "colourful" character, as we all know. )

No! I was just riffing off the banter about people winding each other up about audio definitions, which you weren't doing. And then the banter about us lot here (me more than most) being lightweights compared to the GB lot.

I had to go back and read your post to check though - you are officially not condescending. Unlike some round here. <condescencion mode> *scruffles Tigger's hair and rolls eyes to rest of forum* What are we going to do with you, eh?</condescencion mode>

Absolutely. I found Tony quite a good person to talk to and have a laugh with if you talked to him about the right subjects. RTD and canon obviously weren't those good subjects.

Remember when he was channelling the first three Doctors? That was brilliant.

As for music, if you don't appreciate it, you don't. I don't appreciate football, for instance.

I display excessive amounts of affection for lots of things, including DW.

Now I'm sticking up for ting again. ”

I'm sorry Granny. I didn't mean to offend you, of all people: you're amongst the kindest and most warm-hearted here.

But I think he was being serious. He belittled children and childhood itself immensely, deeming kids to be too unintelligent and irritating and that Doctor Who is wasted on them. It was in the same manner as some of his posts about RTD, so you know he isn't joking

As for the music, fair enough. I guess its the closed-mindedness that got to me.

As for obsessions (or excessive affection ), there is a fundamental difference between you and ting, and that is you do not possess the lethal combination of pride and arrogance which ting would usually display.

Glad you're sticking up for him, though, because we're all human, and that's all that matters. You're a beacon of tolerance

He did a thread a few weeks ago where he mixed The Very Last Of The Summer Wine with the end of Blakes 7, it was hilarious!!! If I could find that thread I'd show it to you!!!!

That's not fair. I had a post ready reminding of that but my ineptitude with phone meant the cracks got it.

One of my favouritest posts from any FM on any topic.

To be honest, there are some aspects of Tony that need defending. I'm not condoning his views on kids, etc but he was quite a knowledgeable bloke on Who at times, told me even stuff even I didn't know!!!! If you talked to him on his level and agreed with him, he was quite witty and made a good conversation. It's when you didn't agree him that problems arose, especially with RTD, he even went so far as contradicting himself one night!!!

He certainly is a controversial person and the fact we're all talking about him proves it.

I used to love the times he called us all "morons" or "ignorant" but threatened to leave when we took issue with it! Whenever he criticised RTD for being gay without actually using the word, I just laughed and laughed!

Thing is, I used to catch him out loads of times over RTD. I think he enjoyed his era more than he was prepared to admit.

I'm sure I had fun with Poppycod and Shoegazer but I'm unlikely to reminisce about all the good times.

I feel I shouldn't contribute to this, but I will. I had to apologise to him one evening for saying that his posts for "want of a better word could be construed as shallow". He completely overreacted and I apologised, and a couple of days later I found posts of his, where he called other people "t*ssers" and morons and that people were below his intellect. When I pulled him up on it, he never apologised to those people. After this I lost all respect for him. Sorry!

Edit: And I used to defend him!

What you both say is right and I wouldn't disagree with any of it. The good times with Tony were rare and I argued with him as much as everyone else on here. I just felt the need to point out he wasn't all bad. Mostly bad but not all!!!!
