That tardis wiki site gives me every answer I need and doesn't treat me like I am stupid. I think between us we can muddle through. But I said my piece above so I will shut up now.

Just to put in my two penneth about Ting....
There are many things we have disagreed on, and we've argued over certain things, but in my experience, he doesn't hold a grudge, and where we could be arguing on one thread, but agreeing on another at the same time! If you read back through this thread, he wasn't being horrible to anyone as such really, just defending his opinion over canon, and also defending mine. Everyone jumped on him because he said he was 'off' but I can totally understand his frustration, because in this instance all he was trying to do was say (like myself) 'look, this is my opinion on this, please respect it'. But if you look in the replies in the thread both him and myself were told MANY times, 'No, you are wrong!', how can a persons own opinion be wrong in this particular issue when there are no facts (from the parties who can provide definate facts) to state otherwise? So to sum up, yes, he may have been harsh to others in tha past, but I certainly felt he'd mellowed, and it wasn't him at fault in this thread, at all.

Missed Tiingra's (undoubtedly temporary) departure which for those who follow such things is probably a blessing for all concerned

I think some forum members get caught up in the heat of a discussion and they lose the ability to differentiate between 'voicing an opinion' and 'expressing their opinion as an uneqivocal fact'.
I've had discussions in other threads about (for instance) the viewing figures for season 5. I am quite happy that other forum members don't agree with my interpretation of the overnights/final figures for each episode. But it turned into a series of comments along the lines of "You are not able to understand the facts". I did understand the facts of course, but I just looked at them in a different way. And I think that what happens a lot in other forums on other topics. Particularly with those forum members who (ahem) might consider themselves 'experts'. |
