Here the BBC explain the absence of the SCD boards.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/strictlyc...geboards.shtml

So, the new site is up and running and many of you have noticed that there are no boards. Here's the reason why...........................For those of you that are still hungry for a messageboard experience, there are a number of other sites which have lively Strictly boards -

Points of View

Digital Spy

Yahoo
So.......I've been, signed up, started threads and someone's picking on me already.

I've replied in some of those threads

If the actual SCD website has said use POV, I don't see why other board users there should have a problem with it.

Ignore them.

Hi ewoodie

Few weeks ago I 'dipped a toe' in the POV forum and practically had my foot bitten off (wasn't the SCD thread, but has put me off going back there).

I'd imagine that the problems you've had with POV is that they expect all SCD discussion to be confined to the one existing SCD thread, rather than starting new ones. Just guessing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks jingled. I agree with strictlyred who said that as the BBC suggested we used the POV forum we should!! I think we should use them in same way as the SCD boards in previous years with lots of threads. How could we possibly discuus SCD on just one thread?!!

The reasons for doing away with the SCD messageboard are crass and idiotic. They must have well over a 100 messageboards still running on programmes lot less popular then SCD. 3 MBs given to Heroes, 8 to religion, 4 to gardening and would you believe it 7 to a radio programme the Archers etc.

They talk about cutting back and yet add a new dance troupe with 6 pro dancers and I read Darcy Bussell is coming back to the panel.
I wonder what are the real reasons behind the closure of the SCD messageboard??

FGS All the BBC are doing is spending the budget in a better way. The boards have gone and won't be back this year. You've even had someone with inside knowledge telling you the score. Move on.

Why?

They must have well over a 100 messageboards still running on programmes lot less popular then SCD. 3 MBs given to Heroes, 8 to religion, 4 to gardening and would you believe it 7 to a radio programme the Archers etc.
The Archers is the world's longest-running soap, and it's the most popular non-news programme on R4. It runs 5 times a week and has had 16,000+ episodes. It has two well-established fan clubs, and it's been going for over 60 years.

It's not exactly some obscure niche programme, you know?

Mind you, I never listen to it, it's rubbish.

They talk about cutting back and yet add a new dance troupe with 6 pro dancers and I read Darcy Bussell is coming back to the panel.
Well if the money spent on message boards has been saved and used for more dancing and more content, that sounds good to me.

And if the Beeb board were full of the same rubbish that most of this board usually is, I don't think its loss is going to be a great blow.

I wonder what are the real reasons behind the closure of the SCD messageboard??
MI5 did it, because the board member had discovered the thruth about the death of Princess Di.

But don't tell anyone.

Actually its 6 days a week (* dont listen very often honest - blame m'mum she got me into it).

And agree that anything that puts more of the budget into the dancing must be a good thing.

Hmm, I tried those links and they didn't work. All it said was:

"Look, he's here, I've found him, mister beeb! He won't learn his lesson. I think you'll have to terminate his contract, don't you, mister beeb? Mister beeb says: "play him "the Good Life" 'till his brain runs out his ears, there's a good boy..." etc, until the dummy's monocle falls out

ewoodie, I've just had a look at BBC POV, and your threads are no longer "hidden".

From this I'm assuming that the Mods have taken a look, and decided that whatever complaint was made, was not justified

I agree. I am sick to death of people going on about the BBC Forums. This is DS. We have a great SCD Forum here and I think it is ruddy rude to keep whingeing on and on about the BBC. Quite honestly you need to buckle down and enjoy it here or find somewhere else to whinge. Sorry, but it has to be said.

The OP is whinging about the lack of BBC boards because they don't have anything to disrupt this year - although they've had a go at the POV board.

How rude.

Why is posting on the POV board being disruptive?

If the OP wishes to post both there and here, why shouldn't they, especially if the SCD website itself suggests it?

I stay on here mostly, but I do venture over there and post about a range of BBC programmes if I feel like it. However, as "jingled " said earlier, some posters over there can be quite unfriendly and possessive of their threads.

Posting about SCD is a great idea! But whinging on and on about the BBC Forums being closed seems a bit off. Its like going to a restaurant and announcing in a very loud voice that you're only there because the place you really wanted to go to was closed. Like DS is sloppy seconds, which it most definitely is not!

Quite right StrictlyRed, you tell 'em.

*stargazer* & fondantfancy lighten up. I was just pointing out that the BBC has suggested we post SCD points on the POV boards. No-one's whinging!! So please stop being so rat-baggy!!!

Whatever they've done with the money Buddy, they clearly didn't spend it on wardrobe if the 'outfits' I've seen so far are anything to go by...I've seen more hideous outfits in the last week than in all the previous series put together

I think the person who need to lighten up and start showing some respect for the forum they are posting on is you. We love DS and we enjoy posting on here. All this whinging about the BBC forums is quite frankly getting on people's nerves.
