Can anybody advise?

I've just re-formatted my HDR by mistake!

Is there any way of recovering it.

Don't know much about Linux file systems!

There's certainly nothing you can do using just the hdr. It might be possble to recover the data but only by removing the drive and connecting to a PC. The only data you need is the recording data in the 3rd partition (sda3) videos folder assuming it's just the video recordings you want back

It won't be easy. Most Linux file systems are a pain to recover. In most cases the inode table is nulled out so you've permanently lost names, file sizes and the location of the first few blocks of each file(*). In theory you can search for the extent nodes and then work back from there but it's very hit and miss.

(*)ReiserFS is an exception. It doesn't have an itable. Despite the rather peculiar way it scatters meta data around the disk the end result is surprisingly tolerant of damage and very recoverable.

You have my sympathies, but it's not going to be worth your time trouble or money to try to recover the data. Best to just imagine that you've only just bought the machine... and look forward to filling up the drive afresh.

Can I ask the obvious question (mainly as a warning to others),

How did the OP manage to format the internal hdd by accident ?
In way of sympathy most stuff will get repeated if you wait long enough
