Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but when I download programs and play them back via the iplayer Desktop App the video seems to judder every second or so. If I play the video via streaming all is very smooth and watchable. I've tried everything to get it to play smooth, but with no luck. Any ideas??

I have the same problem. And when I switch on the subtitles it's getting even worse. I always thought that the graphics board in my laptop isn't enough for the iPlayer, but on the other hand videos are running smooth via streaming...

You might find that running full screen rather than "in a window" may help (it does with the "HD" content).

Do you have the latest version of Flash and up to date graphics drivers?

The encryption on the downloads does mean that they need a bit more computing power to play smoothly than streams do. It is possible your computer sits in the little gap where it has enough power for one and not the other.
