Set Reports FLOODING In! [Mild Spoilers]

23-09-2010
Suranne Jones has been cast as Idris in Neil Gaiman's eisode, with filming well underway.

Suranne will be well known to soap fans as Coronation Street’s Karen McDonald. She also appeared as Mona Lisa in series three of The Sarah Jane Adventures and co-stars with David Tennant in the forthcoming drama Single Father.

Andrew Tiernan is playing Mr. Purcell in the Mark Gatiss penned fourth episode “What Are Little Boys Made Of?“

In this months Doctor Who Magazine Steven Moffat gives a few tantalising teasers for the forthcoming series…

So what can I tell you about next series? The startling truth about Idris’ new soul – even the Doctor doesn’t believe her! The frankly appalling revelation concerning the one person in the universe the Doctor trusts the most? Would you like to peek inside a cupboard that will chill your blood, or meet a workforce that will haunt your dreams? Have you ever wondered about Apollo Ten and a half? And have you already guessed that River Song is …

He also reveals almost nothing about the game-changing cliffhanger in episode seven…

The calamitous and frankly shocking events at the climax of Episode 7 will still be ringing in your ears when Doctor Who returns in the Autumn for a futher six episodes. Oh, yes, feel our cruelty – you will see the Doctor’s life change forever, you will gasp in astonishment at the true nature of his relationship with Amy Pond, and you will cry out in horror as Rory Williams stumbles to the brink of a tragic mistake…

All this and much more on the website below, which is becoming a treasure trove of info! (Don't worry, the spoilers are not very earth shattering, but they are very good IMO )

Particularly the set reports, involving chatty guards and old ladies with bags of rubbish. Kids on bikes too

Series 6 is going to be great

Interesting, specially the thing that will change the doctor's life and the true nature of his relationship with Amy wonder what those are about?

Is any suprise going to be left in Series 6 at all by the time it airs?

Well, we know a surprise is coming, we just don't know what. So yes, the surprise will most definately be surprising

Spoilers have been far less apparent for the SM DW than they were for the RTD DW. Photos of every monster seen months in advance. Not anymore. I approve wholeheartedly.

The spoilers listed in this thread amount to a couple of actors and a couple of character names. I can live with that.

I wasn't really into the filming stuff around series 1, but I presume only the autons and the gas mask mummies were seen....as they were only ones shot in the open...
series 2, again I never saw the fimling stugg, as I wasn't into the world of the internet, and plus I was refusing to bother with the show when Chris left...maybe the santa robots, the Cybermen, and maybe the Daleks (although since then I have heard many say they were a suprie and only rumoured to be in it)
in Series 3, when I went spoiler mad....I 'd seen pics of the Santa robots, and that John Simms was seen standing on a hill
Series 4, the Daleks were seen, a Sontaran was spotted, so they released an early publicity photo,...and then the Master and the Cybermen were seen for the specials (as well as the monster mash for the Star Wars Cantena scene with Cpt Jack)...so no, pictures were not planted every where....
In series 5, I had seen the Khaki Dalek, a shot of the Sulirain, the Dream Lord, the broken Weeping Angles...so its about the same....

And in terms of Set reports...now we definitely used to have more filming in city areas...hence why we came across more fliming footage....but as the last and this series so far seems to be majorly shot inside we don't see much....but there has been planty o little tidbits about the Gaiman and Gatiss Stories....and rumours of the Christmas special as well....if you know where to look....but I won't mention them here if you indeed want to stay away from rumours....

I am definitely happy to stay away from rumours. I have got better and better at avoiding spoilers, and it has really freshened the series for me. Seeing the water people from Waters Of Mars all over the front of the DW kids comic, months before transmission, was a real shame.

Similar things were seen for the Silurians, Daleks (the Khaki ones, although the new ones did kind of leak a couple of days before the episode aired), vampire ladies way before transmission.....its all part of the promotion....and especailly last year they really would have had to relase a few things much earlier to keep the show in the mind of the audience.....

If you were able to avoid it during series 5, that is really great....I knew as much about series 5 a day before its transmission as much as I have known for series 3 and 4 when I was into spoilers....I'm too much of an addict now

Has a companion ever turned out to be evil/bad? Just wondering.

Almost seems like Amy is able to summon the Doctor. What if she wasn't simply remembering the Doctor at the end of series 5 but actually had some semblance of control over him or the Tardis.

Turlough is probably the closest thing to a bad companion, he was recruited by the black guardian to kill the doctor, however he redeemed himself. He carries on travelling with him for a while afterwards.

Big Finish have had an evil companion called Klein if that counts.

Doesn't sound too promising for Rory - they're not going to kill him AGAIN are they???

Everything leaked in series one. There was a long, complete, detailed synopsis of Bad Wolf online the week before it aired, and the press were shown The Parting of the Ways and had screen shots of Rose as God in the papers days before it aired.

There were certainly a lot less spoilers online for series 5 than for any of the 4 RTD ones.

Louise Marie-Bowen has been cast as "Mrs Rossiter China Doll." Mrs Rossiter is an old lady in episode 4, we see her taking the rubbish out.

So, is a china doll made of Mrs Rossiter, or does she turn into one?

creepy thought
