Hi Guys and Gals

just a quick question, as to why song release dates in this country are so late compared to the US and other parts of Europe?

i mean, i like Kelly Rowland's new track (new for the UK anyway) rose colored glasses, it was released in the US end of June and released in most parts of Europe in July, yet it still isn't available on UK iTunes.

Its not just that song, its plenty of others aswell.

Any ideas?

Maybe it's because in the US, the song needs to build up on radio as the billboard is made up of 50% airplay and 50% sales. So once it starts building up over there, then it can be released in the UK as the UK is 100% sales ONLY. Also, us UK'ers tend to like whatever reaches the top over there, don't we?

Most of the time release dates are close together, unless there's plans for promotion in certain countries which makes it impossible to do if the release dates were always the same.

I've always wondered why songs, especially American songs get released earlier in Australia than the UK. Even some UK artists/bands get into the Australian charts tbefore getting into the UK charts. That shouldn't happen should it?
Looking at this week's ARIA singles chart, Tokyo by the Wombats is already in the Top 40 and I don't think it's even been released here yet!

The UK is one of the biggest music markets in the world - the third, behind USA and Japan.

They need to make sure they do it right, otherwise a track will fail, so they spend more money on the UK market than they do in most parts of the world simply because it brings more money back.

We're not "behind". We're actually sought after. The markets people around the world want to crack are the USA and UK.
