I've been using Sony Ericssons for a long time and I'm bored of them. I've bought new phones but returned them or quickly sold them on because the organizer they have is pants. I've tried Window's Mobile smart-phones and Symbian handsets to no avail and people I talk to about this agree that Sony Ericsson have had one of the best, if not most sophisticated, organizer out there.

I don't ask for much from a mobile but a good reminders system is a priority. Secondly I don't want something ugly like a blackberry nor do I want to spend a lot on it.

I'm thinking about buying a low-end Android (Orange's San Fransisco) in the hope that there will be an organizer app I can download that I'll get a long with but having had a quick read on the net it seems there's plently of people asking for reccommendations and no one definitive app.

Thoughts?.

Have you tried the X10 Mini (and Pro)? As I love smaller phones anyway am loving it as I get all the functionality of the larger phones in a smaller phone.

What type of organiser are you looking for? All Android phones come with Google Calendar built in.

Just a decent to-do reminder system. Nothing flash. The G-Calendar might suit me but does it need to sync with the internet cos I have a contract without a data plan right now? sync over wifi?.

I've had a slide out on an HTC Windows Mobile phone and it felt awkward. The screen looks too small to type on for my cumbersome digits. Also it looks too chunky for my liking and I think something like the Pulse/San Fansisco are better value.

It's the first slide out phone I have felt that is not going to break, but I do agree on the chunkiness.

User experience of the keyboard has been really positive on the Mini, but I've not bothered with it (for obvious reasons).

They've also announced an X10 mid-size in between the X10 and the mini's, although whether that will be better than the HTC options is doubtful.

On android you can switch off mobile data so therefore it wont use any internet unless you connect via wifi.

I would suggest though, if you can afford it to ask if you can have data added to your contract, most mobiles phones these days iphones, android phones such as htc desire etc do benefit from mobile data usage, it makes it more useful when out and about.

Would it not be cheaper just to buy yourself a cheap little electronic organiser, that you can slip into your bag or pocket?

Thanks for that Howley.

I can't be doing with carrying a mobile and another device around with me - my current handset needs replacing because it's crashing alot and has generally become unreliable anyway.

Pretty sure I'll go for the San Fran offering now if I hear it can be unlocked.

The San Francisco brings up the question - how can they even begin to justify the price of the "higher end" devices.

Although there is little info out there right now on the CPU under the hood of the San Fran.

I had one delivered yesterday and I'm getting a refund.

On/off button only works when it feels like it which is a massive issue when the ONLY button that "wakes-up" android devices is that very button. Even if it worked properly I think it would pee me off not being able to press the home key (or any other) cos power button is the most awkward button to press.

Bluetooth and Wifi issues to boot.

Organizer seems to be up my street though...
