Poor picture quality when connected to my freeview HD ready TV

Hi,

I have a DTI6300-16 and whenever I connect it to my TV, which already has freeview built it, it connects fine but the quality is pretty poor. It's connected via SCART lead. On my other TV, non-freeview, it's fine.

Would anybody have any advice on how to improve this? My TV is a Hitachi 19" LCD freeview dvd combo.

Many thanks,

D.

Can always try this:

Menu
Set up
Change Box settings
Change scart settings

Have a play around with that, see what happens

Hi Smurfit,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that didn't work

It's nothing to do with the fact that my TV is hd-ready is it? or maybe I should try a different connecting instead of scart leads?

*despair* It's just so odd!

Is it definitely the scart input that's selected and not uhf from the Thomson's modulator output?

Freeview is generally very poor quality when viewed on larger HD TV's most of the channels are very low bit rate with the exception of the BBC channels.

Out of curiosity what do you watch on your non freeview TV ? I only ask because where I live it's a choice between Freeview or Sky.

it's a 19 inch so we can discount the size. poor quality in what way? i find mine a little 'edgy' and harsh so i stick the tv sharpness right down and it looks better.

Hi

I don't know the details of your freeview box or your TV but most setup menus allow changing the SCART settings from/to RGB/composite or vice versa, as a scart cable can carry both types of signals.

The text on tv is not clear, it looks like 3D (without the glasses). I gave up. Never loved my box, it just froze and messed up too many times. It ended up on the scrap heap! Just nomal freeview tv for me and videos. Thank you for your help.
