Samsung Kies is the worst phone software ever...

Just removed this bloated rubbish from my PC. It has to have the drivers intalled every time to recognise my Galaxy S. It also crashes when it tries to upgrade firmware.

Utterly useless software that does nothing for Samsung's reputation.

I've just bought a Galaxy S and I want to transfer music and photos from my laptop to my phone - it says I need to download Kies. I have done, but it won't install! It gets as far as screen 4 of 5, says "vstor40_x86.exe Downloading" but the progress bar doesn't get above a tiny blue blip, and 0%. If I cancel it, it says it's not responding, and I've had to close it from the task manager and start again. I'm on my third attempt, and it's still the same.

Does anyone have any advice? And am I able to transfer photos and music any other way than via Kies?

Copy and Paste using explorer works for me. (Android)

I usually only install any supplied software as a last resort.

Thanks - I'll try something else. I'm getting nowhere with Kies. I assumed I could copy and paste somehow, but my computer can't seem to see my phone anywhere (even though my phone says it's connected) in order to copy and paste.

You need to press on where is says "USB connected" in the status bar and select "Mount" for the computer to read the memory. The phone should then pop up in windows as a removable disk and you should be good to go.

had a wave the other week and it took me 2 attempts to even install kies properly, then it wanted to update, which kept failing and took ages to do, then it took me another half hour to get it to even see my handset, then its said a firmware update was available, but crashed everytime I tried to apply it....
i was about 2 nights messing with it before I got it working ok....
