The cut off date for Grammys was at the end of August which means songs before end of august are eligible to be nominated

Any guesses for who you reckon might be nominated?

Lady GaGa probably (although she didn't win very much last time)

I was hoping for Florence + the Machine, but if the cut off is August then her VMA debut wouldn't have happened yet...so she probably hadn't made enough impact Stateside to be nominated.

Gaga is a no brainer. I don't think they quite knew what to make of her last year, but Bad Romance changed the game. She doesn't really have much credible competition this year, the usual Grammy darlings of Beyonce and Alicia are absent, and there's no way they'll award Ke$ha and Katy Perry over her.

I expect her to sweep. Probably a few with Telephone, purely because of Beyonce. I'm wondering whether they'll class TFM as a separate album.

They might nominate Christina for a vocal award for 'You Lost Me', but it may have come too late.

As for the guys, I think Eminem and Usher might dominate. I doubt they'll bother with Bieber if they want any credibility.

Atleast Taylor Swift won't have any nominations... No idea what happened there last year.

Lady Gaga will probably win loads.

I'd imagine they will, as TFM was released seperately to TF, whereas over here it was repackaged as a double album.

If the cut off is August, then could Muse win best rock album with Resistance? Or best rock single/video with uprising?

I hope Rih gets nommed. Rated R deserves recognition, I don't care how it did comercially, it's her most critically acclaimed album yet.

I reckon Rihanna will win one for Rude boy. I reckon she will be nominated for best r&b album for rated r, whether she wins is a different thing. I can see Rihanna being nominated a lot and hopefully winning a few. I feel this era is very grammy worthy. She has won 3 and only 1 of them was for herself as a solo artist in the past.

Lady gaga i reckon might win for Bad romance. I am sure her and beyonce will nominated for Telephone.

I would love for Leona to get another nomination. Grammys believe it or not, do nominate albums or singles regardless if they are successful or not

I reckon Alicia keys will be nominated for best r&b album, best song for try sleeping and her collab with jay z with "overplayed state of mind"

Eminem will probs get noms for Recovery and "overated the way you lie"

Flo still could be nominated

Her album was released early this year in the US. It was only until last week where she did actual promo leading to a huge sales surge.

Here's hoping.

As far as I understand it, the August deadline is the management/label submitting songs to be nominated, and then the final nomination list is decided from those submissions?

So, hopefully Flo's people got those nominations in, because her recent fame will push her to get several wins I'd imagine. She's exactly the kind of act they'd award.

Flo will be nominated for Best New Artist (and if she wins, will be a 3rd British female in the last few years!)

I would like Carrie Underwood to win Best Female Country Vocal Performance for Temporary Home (and show up how wrong it was for her not to win for Just a Dream last year).

I think Bad Romance SHOULD win Record/Song of the Year - but I don't want her to win album of year.

Lady Antebellum with Need You Now is a dead cert for Record & Song of the year I think. Fantastic song that will resonate with the voters taste.

Look for Gaga to be winning to make up for last year, You Lost Me & Eminems Recovery should also score high.

Kelis deserves a nom for best dance album. Kelis was here was a flop in the US and got a grammy nom. While that isn't a reason to why she should be nominated, for me it is a great dance album and deserves some recognition in awards, even if not in sales.

I hope Paramore get a nom for Brick by boring brick and Hayley is bound to get one for Airplanes. I could see Airplanes winning. Lyrics and everything about it are just grammy worthy. Well part 2 is but the dull part 1 is bound to win.

Katy perry i can see being nominated for Cali girls and Teenage dream (both album and single). I have a feeling Perry could walk away with one. I feel american pop albums have sucked this year (Kesha's was a half assed job) but Katy's for me is the best american female pop album i have heard this year so far. But just because i love it doesn't mean it has to be nominated or even win. But it's just a theory

I just have a feeling Rihanna could be the big winner. No Beyonce or Swift hogging the spotlight. I can't see Gaga winning loads but at least 1 or 2. I just truly feel Rated r is a very worthy grammy era.

True but her Freedom era really didn't click with the americans this year. She never even had a huge hit. But that doesn't mean she won't win or be nominated. I don't know, i think 11 grammys for Mrs Swizz Beats is enough.

i hope Christina's You Lost ME and Bionic album get nominated in the Best Vocal Song and Album categories.

Rihanna's Rated R album and Rude Boy need aknowledgement.

And again i really hope Florence gets nominated

I know, but look at Beyonce.

13 Grammies from 3 albums? As if.

Grammys can be so unpredictable that I don't even bother predicting them any more. Grammys are consistently inconsistent. One year they will award art over commerce then commerce over art the next.

It'll be interesting to see how they vote with Gaga, actually.

She may follow in Madonna and Britney's footsteps and get consistently shunned, or at most, continue being awarded only in the lesser (Dance) categories.

On the other hand, she may have bridged the gap between commercial pop success and credible artistry that they like to award. She's certainly displayed much more creativity and musical capability since she was nominated last.

The fact that she's so widely appreciated now might make all the difference. It's like they were all waiting to make their minds up on her last year.
