Funny with Lynn Parsons, she used to drive me mad on Smooth it was almost as if all her talent was being squeezed out of her. However I always liked her on Radio 2, she often covered for Zoe Ball on a Saturday morning and also did the early show after Sarah Kennedy was pushed out. I think she would make a good job of the early Saturday evening slot currently held by Liza Tarbuck who I really don't like.
I haven't listened to Smooth for a while, what happened to Kid Jensen and Pat Sharp?

That's a line-up that screams "up yours, anoraks".

It'll do very well.

Yep, the more complaints it gets on here, the better it will do.

I was shocked when I saw this news today.Having lost David Jensen and Pat Sharp at christmas and now losing Simon and Lynn how are listeners supposed to stay loyal to a radio station when every main presenter has been sacked?

They're obviously having a clear out to break from the old. Start again from the ground up.

It is a sad day, when they have had all loyal listeners for the last 3 + years.

Sad that the Golden Hour will be gone. We lost Our tune last year. I'm sure it'll return somewhere else someday.
Our Tune will hopefully die in agony screaming like most of its subjects There are Golden hours on Gold which is probably it's natural home anyway.

If you think its getting complaints on here check out Facebook 200+ already and not a single positive comment.

That's perfectly normal for Facebook. People use it as a platform for complaints and general moaning. Whether it's Tesco, Sky, B&Q or Smooth Radio all big brands attract criticism and complaints.

The majority who are happy or just couldn't care less about who speaks every 20 minutes on Smooth tend not to post.

Rubbish boring playlists and now boring celeb presenters to top it off. I would not mind but which ever global station i dip into i almost already know whats going to be playing. Very poor radio and no im not an anorak i just like a better playlist hearing the same songs does my head in. Im surprised tgey did not ditch movie songs and the soul shows as they are poor also.

Often think that R1 DJ's who were in their mid-late forties when Bannister took over were pretty unlucky. They were dismissed at a reasonably young age, with no natural home for them at that time. Under Beerling, Bates would still be doing mid-morning!

Mid to late forties isn't a 'reasonably young age' for a radio one DJ IMHO. They had a pretty good run for their money I reckon. And most found other work either as commercial radio jocks or elsewhere.

The "majority" are those normal listeners who aren't on forums and don't follow radio stations on FB. You can bet that many of them will not be impressed at losing Bates from breakfast or Lynn from mid morning for that matter. Just because they don't moan in public does not mean that they will accept the changes and stay with Smooth.

I agree, I meant in the context of R1 up until than point when even OAP's had been employed!

I wonder whether Birmingham might be an option for Carlos too? I think he's in Cheshire somewhere... so:

- it would be feasible travel-wise
- he has heritage there on BRMB, Heart and Smooth
- Global still own Brum, so they could have made this promise before the Communicorp deal is signed (though given they haven't announced it.. maybe that favours Manchester)
I think Brum breakfast or another local show will be Nigel Freshmans, He has recently left Free BC will san announcement on his new station currently under wraps.
