Global likes those types of jingles like Heart have jingles made like that. It's summer jingles and majority of the country has sun.

Can anyone confirm that Kate Garraway was on this morning (13th June) .The website said so.If she was. she must have got back from Wakefield.West Yorkshire pretty damn quick.as she was on Good Morning Britain from there certainly at 7,30.....
Or did she do it from Smooth North West? Either way, it would have been rather tight.
I'm sorry.but can't help but think like this as far as that programme is concerned.

I don't know if she was there yesterday morning but if she was in Wakefield on GMB and was doing her radio show surely she would do it from Global's base in Leeds? I believe Hirsty does his Gold show from there.

Surely she would, yes.as she surely wouldn't voice track her show,,,,and if he did it in Leeds, don't you think there would be an awful lot of organisation just because Ms Garraway wants to keep her face on tv.These radio companies are very,,,accommodating,,it seems..

The new sweepers and in particular the female ones are cringe worthy some of the worst I have ever heard. Her voice is so patronising.

I don't understand why people continue to moan about Smooth and how awful it is. Also the people who say they were proved right because the station has added an Xk amount of listeners fail to grasp that there is actually not much choice for people on the dial so they will listen regardless. Who cares? I'm actually spending an evening with Simon Bates during September and I'll be interested to hear his take on all this. As I said I've stopped listening since the changes. Magic north is so so much better. I listen online to a lot of it and Nick Wright, Dave Campbell and Ray Rose are great playing a genuinely decent playlist. There are alternatives out there still. As for Smooth I think that Simon has and continues to have the ability to engage and entertain the listener in a very direct and personable manner. It's hard achieve that.

Occasionally out of curiosity to see if it has improved. Sadly it hasn't not on the local Norfolk DAB feed.

I love MAGIC north , the presenters can be themselves and they can play what they want- particularly RAY rose. It is commercial radio at it's best in my opinion.........

Hopefully Bauer will allow Magic north to stay as it is.
Richard Park had a lot of success with Magic London which is different to the north stations.

“ I set up more music less talk when I was at Magic because London needed that. It worked brilliantly.”

He has now effectivley changed Smooth to be a national version of Magic London and both Global and Bauer will be watching rajar to see if it works, if it does, and Magic north (also Clyde2/Forth2) listening figures suffers, then there may be changes?
But although the format worked in London does not mean it will work nationally for Smooth, but it might?

The type of music Smooth play appeals to people of my generation who don't like heavy rock.

I enjoyed Magic London when it was on the local mux for a few years between 2008 and 2011. Smooth was a good alternative when we finally got Digital One in NI last year. I'll be sorry to see it go.

Maybe Dave Brown has been give a management role within Global or his contact has been renewed. Dave used to be a manager at the Smooth / GMG London Base as well as presenting the Saturday Motown Show.

Overnights were probably temporary for Dave whilst Nicola Bonn was on maternity and before some of Gold's presenters like David Andrews moved onto the network. Global needed an overnight presenter before David Andrews was free from Gold to take the overnights.
