It was if nothing had changed since I the last time I listened for less than five minutes. In fact, it could have been the exact same programme held on pause for me to return to in another time frame. Same soporific, vacuous link to song, followed by song you've heard played so many times, if it were a piece of round plastic in your hand, you'd snap it in two. Strangely enough, I can't remember what that song was now, but I do remember it was something by ABBA - possibly SOS, One of Us, or The Winner Takes it All, or was it Everytime You Go Away by Paul (not so) Young?
Anyway, whatever it was, it was time to bid a swift farewell to Smooth once again and return to fiddling with my handsfree, in-car tuning knob, as I couldn't stand any more mind torture for one day and my medication was starting to wear off.”
Same here Luca. I haven't listened to or even glanced this thread in weeks now, but flicked Smooth on at just after 6.30pm tonight. No idea what even made me do it really, but as I was washing up I did so. I just do not know how it keeps happening, it's done so numerous times previously that at the very moment I did so Mr George Michael was chirping his his way around the same bloody "corner" as always. Nothing "different" about it. Off it went and over to Radio 4's News Quiz promptly. Then at about 11.30pm I flicked it on again and I had about 10 tracks in my head that I imagined might be playing. Hey presto, one of them was, Mr Lionel Richie still "loving" his "pennies" on Smooth. Well I wasn't and off it went, and I settled down to enjoy a podcast instead.
It's dead behind the eyes radio, with presenters who do not even manage to reach the dizzy heights of being bland.
