What i do think of global smooth radio is no good their is no real well known radio presenters on smooth radio now just dum down x gmtv presenters kate garraway she is not a radio presenter and that is true and andrew castle is no radio presenter and d.j. he is just a bbc tennis commentator and that is true and i do feel golbal radio should get this good top radio presenter terry wogan on to smooth radio now as a radio presenter on smooth radio that would be far more better now and get david jensen back on to smooth radio as well now but at ten pm till 2am i think smooth radio is a let down because they just broadcast this show smooth love songs with no presenter or d.j. and this show is broadcast on smooth extra as well at the same time what is the point 2 stations broadcasting the same show not good it would be far much better if global radio was broadcasting the wireless from age uk now and i am please to say the wireless from age uk got david hamilton on their station and david jensen as well un like smooth radio do now that is true smooth radio is dum down radio now that is true
What happened to punctuation?

Smooth Extra is playing the same music and jingles as smooth. It's not playing anything different to the main channel such a waste.

Hey Wiggy if it's so bad why is it doing so well? Way and I mean WAY better than when it had the likes of Jensen on there (that is true) 😉

I believe this poster uses a voice app on his computer. That might explain it.

So true the channel could be much better utilized by putting Gold back on DAB. So much for the promised 70/80/90's station.

Or even better allow the mono music stations to go stereo by sharing out the bandwidth.

In his defence, he's not a spammer, just wired up differently to most of us. As the saying goes, don't mock the afflicted...

Is he afflicted or just wired up differently? Quite a few geniuses could be described that way.

Smooth doing top 500 songs of all time again over the Easter weekend. This is a nice nod to the old Smooth and hopefully we'll hear some slightly different songs. Odd that they are doing a new countdown effectively allowing the same people to vote again

Hopefully John Lennon Imagine doesn't win again. Most overrated song ever

It will just be the usual playlist although 500 songs is probably slightly larger.

How did they do the top 500 last time then? Did they start it at 6 am on the Friday Breakfast show and go on through the night until they got to the end? Or did they stop during the night and allow time for features such as the Golden Hour and 3 from 1 at 3? (I know those features no longer exsist though)

How big is the usual playlist/active rotation?

Is Smooth Extra popular does it have any listeners?
Given this is it's first quarter of operation I imagine it will appear in the next set of RAJARs.

Indeed these so called Top 500 are a joke as Global always provide the tracks to vote for. Last year it started off as only 500 choices but was later increased to at least make it a little bit of a poll. One thing for sure is I won't be wasting time over Easter listening to it.

In that case I'll look forward to your track by track review on the morning of the Tuesday after Easter.

Based on Global's narrow playlists , do Global have 500 songs in their possession ?

I wondered about the size of Smooth's playlist earlier so had a quick look at a couple of recent licence applications – the ones for the Portsmouth licence and the monitoring results of the applicants.

These are a few months old so might have changed now:

Celador (The Breeze) monitored seven days w/c 25 October from 6am-7pm and the number of individual tracks played by Smooth was 517 (Heart was 345, Wave 647).

Angel Radio monitored just the one day 5th November but included the 24 hour period from 00:01-23:59 Smooth played 297 individual tracks (Heart 202, Wave 238).

Someone may know the current rotation numbers?
