Me too!! I notice they are playing a bit more modern stuff now- Stereophonics, Emily Sande and that song called Never Expecting that.

Yes, there are definitely a few more modern tracks/artists getting played recently. I've heard John Legend, Bruno Mars, Charlie Puth, Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding. They're not played often though as Global won't want Smooth to stray into Heart territory.

I love their music selection through the night. Unfortunately it keeps me awake.

Yes its so depressing from the jingles to the music. Even Magic makes smo
oth sound very poor. At least magic mix the music up rather than being sleepy all day.
Have to agree its so drab and depressing absolutely life less. Whenever I check it out the limited playlist is as predictable as ever. They might call the shows by different names but the music is always the same. The jingles do nothing but send you to sleep yawn yawn yawn

Good to see Global have updated the Smooth app to the new modern look. I wonder if they will ever update Golds App. Sadly I bet they won't bother as they see Gold as a dieing service.

Technically there should always be a place for Gold. As the decades go by Gold should pick up the next era of music.

I'm glad Martin is doing daytime cover now, but still won't sound much different to what Paul does, still won't be able to speak hardly!!

Didn't Paul used to be the regular cover for Martin on Capital's Late Show?

Reluctantly gave up listening to Smooth when they dropped the hourly news in the evenings. From the same company I know but now listen to Gold instead.

I was hoping Russ Williams would breath some fresh air into it but ................

So was I but unfortunately it hasn't happened. I remember the great Breakfast Shows he did with Jono on Virgin but he's so laid back and speaks so little its just as boring as the rest of the output. Magic is far livelier at breakfast. I appreciate Smooth is a relaxing music mix as the tedious sweepers tell us but surely breakfast should at least have a presenter who has a little bit of life as he brings us into the day.

Let's be honest Russ is doing the show he is being employed to do and also it is unlikely he would be getting Jono on Skype and bringing back Edward and Shanka

Russ has brought a similar style to Smooth breakfast to the one he did during most of his time at Virgin and Absolute - on mid-mornings. If anything I think he talks more on Smooth.

If people want to hear more of him talking and like sport he does a Saturday afternoon show on LBC London News. I think Russ is a good listen whatever format he is doing.

Smooth EM probably has some of the strongest local presenters on the network

From January 2017 Tina Hobley will be presenting smooth drive home in London. Anthony Davis has left and moving to US with his family.

They still do news in the evenings since 2014
Listened in last night at 11pm and, guess what, no news. This is despite the following being stated in their public file:

Smooth Radio broadcasts news bulletins on the hour 24 hours a day. Between 6am and 7pm Mon-Fri and 6am- 12noon Saturday and Sunday these bulletins contain a mix of local, national and world stories, along with appropriate local and national sport, weather and entertainment news.
National bulletins are broadcast at other times of the day.
So it's back to Gold for me.

That's it i'm going to report to Ofcom they are supposed to carry 24 hour news like there sister station heart does, it's in their licence agreement, but as Global always do, they like to break the rules.
