That said, I still don't like Simon Bates or his depressing Our Tune. In fact, I've never disliked any Smooth presenter before he was hired to grace the station. I didn't like his smarmy presentation on Classic FM either but have to admit (with my tail between my legs) that he was marginally better than what we have now with John Suchet.

Who do I miss? Nick Piercey and Tammy Gooding, thankfully Tammy now presents on BBC WM, Nick has disappeared from our local airwaves but is doing well elsewhere and, lastly, Carlos, but his expertise wasn't lost with going national, I can listen to his dulcet tones during the early evening in his 70s slot. Not all is lost, shame that Bates can't be. ”

What is wrong with John Suchet on Classic fm (I've never listened to him on there) but I loved him when he used to do the ITV Evening news, and i watched a programme where he talked about his wifes illness- I think he is a really warm, friendly person to be honest.

Carlos is the only one I listen to on Smooth. Always liked his voice and style of presentation.

You need to listen, take a few minutes out to catch up and you may understand what I mean. He probably is a warm and friendly man but his radio technique needs to be addressed. I cannot even find the words to describe how he comes across, half whispering, too much enthusiasm, I want to hear the tracks, I don't want faux enthusiasm, it's classical music, I want to hear MUSIC !! lol

Carlos is amongst the top presenters imho, he has the voice for it, he knows how to address his listeners, he is a god amongst presenters, thank goodness that we've not lost him here in the Midlands.

I like to see David Prever in the schedules. The problem is smooth needs to share the broadcasts from London and Salford. So swapping around the broadcasters could mean changes to where they come from?

I don't get him at all - very 80s local DJ for me - mannered delivery, called something Mediterranean like "Carlos" when his real name is Karl. I imagine fake tan and a medallion.

Your link doesn't work, occy, but whatever, Carlos is great whether he's known as Karl or otherwise, he's a great voice for radio.

Ben Jones for Lynn Parson back on Smooth today ( Sunday ) I wonder if he could feature in 2012 and lot more. David Prever should get a slot too. They having to find Dave Lincoln a slot as he's lost his Sunday night show, but I did hear him doing overnights Saturday early hours.

Apart from being PD Steve is a very experienced Radio presenter so he is obviously handy to have around if someone falls sick on air (as happened to Carlos)

Looks like the majority of Christmas Day will be pre recorded then, but it is nice to see Denise Van Outen making an appearance again on Christmas Eve.

I wonder if David Prever and Ben Jones wlll feature at all over the festive period?

I have to have a Carlos moan (again) I find these tweets from Carlos a bit rich and a bit of a cheek (and reading ridgieman's post backs this up).

smoothcarlos Carlos
She said it on three links in 20 mins! Couldn't hear her v well as automated levels all over place. Why bother at all?.

smoothcarlos Carlos
You'd be shocked S how many computers play out recorded shows for hours everyday on stations all over country.

Why are you still looking at his Twitter feed when you don't like him?!?

They would only be a bit rich if he was the Programme Director.

The Rickster is a top bloke, wish we could have him back on the station formerly known as Rock Radio.
