Seems a lot the shows now come from Manchester. Simon, Lynn and Mark are about the only ones which are London based. Could we see Smooth completely moving to Salford?

From the Sky News room. Seems Smooth are using Sky Radio News. Do they use it all the time now?

From what I understand, GMG's cuts to newsroom staff has led to Smooth having Sky/IRN all weekend with Real keeping it in-house during the weekend morning peak.

Andy Pebbles said he's off for the next two weeks and Graham Torrington is covering him, but not his Saturday shows.

This usually happens when Andy is on holiday, So I presume the show is pre recored. I wonder if Graham will talk about relationship stuff?

I for one hope not but i suppose it's inevitable. GMG removed the nw presenters when it was the best performing of the regions. There is even now a yawning gulf in terms of weekend programming to weekdays. Pat Sharp broadcasts by the numbers, Emma B much the same. Peebles for all his faults is very knowledgable and at least comes across as if he cares. In all the changes, Carlos has surprised me. Heard him in the midlands and the voice was a little too much, now he just fits for me.

Carlos is ace of Smooth radio. Emma B Don't really like her. Lynn Parsons is a good presenter. But Andy Peebles hes alright but I think Andy wouldn't fit into the daytime slot.

Anyone know why the travel news on 102.2FM is now the same as the National DAB feed? It seems to have changed in the last week or so. It's not nearly as useful for us in London now

Tonight from midnight Chris Best returns to Smooth looking after Dave Lincoln's show. I haven't heard Chris Best on the radio in ages.

Probably shaving more costs from GMG's output. Smooth did initially simulcast the DAB only travel in London at the national service launch, but changed their minds a few weeks later.

Thanks for the reply. Shame really and is it really such a huge cost to have dedicated travel on 102.2?

Graham Torrington leaving Smooth already....maybe stations are now realising people dont want to hear Lovesongs on, especially early at 10pm....

I guess torrington was a flop then. I'm not a lover of Donny but will give the show a go and see what its like. Not so sure about jenson on drive either but well we will see what happens.

The Kid/Carlos swap make sense to me - wonder if the Kid will still be from Salford most of the week?

Maybe Graham Torrington doing a relationship discussion show was not the right thing for Smooth - as a music jock with perhaps some dedications it may have been a better fit. Wonder what BBC job he's got lined up? WM maybe?
