Blue Revolution is getting the shows on some stations in the UK. Using a national station as a platform is a good move for Smooth and BR. Pat Sharp does his show for Blue Rev. Maybe this is a start and Gary Kings Totally 80's might come on broad at some stage?

Radio 1 swap DJs; Smooth Radio swap DJ's. Just wonder if the survey carried out that Carlos would be stronger in the afternoons?

David has a proven track record on Drive at both Capital and Heart, I am assuming that it was always the plan, he's been at Smooth for a year next month and is without doubt the biggest name on the station after Bates so Drive is perfect for him and Smooth

Inevitable that Jensen and Carlos would swap shifts. I wondered why Donny Osmond was no longer on The Breeze and this explains it.

Not really I would say 60s and 70s is best for smooth. If Smooth were to create another station it would be called Smooth 60s.

Think I know the real reason Graham Torrington is quitting Smooth Radio. Well.you really can't have a show called 'Late Night Love' beginning just half an hour after the sun sets can you? As the year goes on it would just get more and more embarrassing..

I always thought it was an odd bit of scheduling. The programme didn't sound right starting so early.

I didn't know it was happening until after Easter for Carlos and Jensen swap? It's listed Pat Sharp in the afternoon for this week. Carlos must be off on his hols.

Not to mention Radio 1, where he took over from DLT when he moved to breakfast.

Indeed - the WM Changes thread has some chat about it in.

It's a shame when these well known, experienced entertainers are so restricted by the format that their personalities are almost non existent hence the title of this thread

There's only really the BBC left where your personality can shine.

I recall a Radio Radio documentary featuring the great Roger Scott recorded in the year he died, he said that commercial radio were currently winning the battle but he truly thought the people would return to the BBC in their droves as commercial radio was beginning so sound very samey, that was in 1989. What great foresight that man had.

You're acually on the Smooth Radio national thread, which is actually not about the 'lack of personality' of various presenters on Smooth, but you may be thinking of the 'Kid Jensen dull as dishwater' thread that I felt compelled to start, No, there is nothing wrong with the personality getting through on Smooth. with a skilled presenter who is prepared to put the effort in, you can work any format. Sharp, Carlos and Peebles still allow their personaities to shine through, but Jensen doesn't. He never really has. By contrast. it could be argued that Emma B on Sunday maybe allows too much, she does quite long links sometimes, and one i heard a couple of weeks ago was about three minutes pure speech. So, given that .you should be able to get your personality across.if you have one, and IF you can be bothered.

Smooth is a music station not a Radio 2 type format where personality is paramount.

It's also a commercial radio station which is a money making operation. The theory is that a sequence of music and presenters will attract an audience sufficient to sustain programmed paid adverts which will fund the operation and deliver a profit for the shareholders.

The listener is irrelevant.
