I don't think Carlos is best pleased with the prospect of him and his growing family having to move to London as he posted this tweet a couple of hours ago.

Carlos ‏@smoothcarlos
Another of the unforgettable days in my (almost) 31 years in radio. Wonder how many more before I hang up my headphones? Life eh?

Simon on holiday at present. Wonder if that was planned. He's in the know.

I somehow don't think Carlos will be joining Smooth in London. I personally think he would sit well on a BBC Local station

ad never heard or heard of Carlos before he joined Smooth (London area). I think he is wasted he would be a fine breakfast show or mid morning host. I would dump Lynne Parsons she really irritates me and have him follow Simon 10-1. in fact I would change all the times anyway to 4 hour slots.

I would keep

6-10 Simon
10-1 Carlos
1-4 Lynn
4-7 Pat Sharp Drive Time
7-10 Andi Peters Evening Show
10-1 Martin Collins Late Show
1-4 Derek Webster
4-6 Early Breakfast?

I would hire Gary King weekends & Richard Allinson Weekend breakfast or weekdays

I'm keeping my gob firmly shut as Carlos has posted a tweet about what's been said on here about him.

"Carlos ‏@smoothcarlos 59m
Just been reading some nonsense about me on a forum website. Funny how folks misinterpret stuff. Wait for the facts you fool!"

"All good. Had a lovely chat with the boss today & great new era ahead. Things change & challenges should be embraced. C"

"Yes. Never read it but someone told me. I'm a happy bunny."

"You're right. I find it mildly amusing how folks love to twist stuff. Probably got nothing better to do. C x"

Thought it was 'by October',and seemingly very soon. Derek Webster had a public 'goodbye' this week.and Dave Lincoln
has also been wiped from the website now too.
Daryl Denham was doing overnight last night
So it's all systems go then.

Dave Brown is on overnights this weekend according to the website, I thought he was the main man at the london studio???

Oh right. Never noticed Derek and Dave had gone. I guess they couldn't really travel to and from London? They were the last of the old school I think? So wonder where they will end next?

Dave Brown is overnights next week ( I guess they are splitting it until they find permanent fixture? ) - David Prever for Simon Bates Next week - ( I didn't know he's off again ) - and Paul Hollins for Pat Sharp ( I guess Paul Hollins will be offered something when they move to Global ?)

Some things are happening at Smooth. Hope Simon isn't leaving?

Does anyone have any audio from Derek's last show?

Derek has replied to a few tweets saying that he was offered to stay on when the station moved to London but it was not viable for him. He's becoming a journalism student.

I was told once that Dave Lincoln lives in Spain during the week and comes back to do his shows.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if there are no major presenter changes once Smooth moves into Leicester Square - at least in the short term. I think they'll wait until they know exactly what (and indeed if) they are selling and to whom.

However if the plan is a merged Smooth and Gold then I would expect to see the music of both networks to begin moving more towards each other anyway.

I know when Dave did daytimes on the old Smooth NW he lived somewhere near Warrington, as it was mentioned a couple of times in our local newspaper.

Didn't honestly think he and Derek would make the move to London.

I recall that Dave Lincoln has a place in France that he spends weeks at several times a year. More leisure time for him now !. Does that mean that Carlos is on the move South then ?

Looks like he has been with 102.2 since 2000, from Jazz FM as it changed to Smooth FM, quite a long time considering the volatile state of commercial radio these days!

Wasn't Dave Lincoln on Saga?

Did Dave Lincoln do a goodbye thing....or announce that it was his last show? I usually listen to him every weekend in my taxi . but must have been listening to something else last weekend he must be retirement age though? And does he really live in Spain and just came back here at weekend?

Dave Lincoln Profile that was for Smooth

Dave Lincoln started his radio career in Liverpool at the age of 21 as one of the founding team at Radio City and presented the afternoon show on City's first day in 1974. Eight years later he moved to be part of his second launch at Red Rose. A further six years later and a dual-career in management and Dave had become Managing Director of the station. In 1991 Dave joined Emap and over the next decade Dave launched and managed stations from Preston to Cardiff before being seconded to London to oversee the transition of Melody Radio to Magic 105.4.

He went on to become Broadcast Director, responsible for the output of all 18 Emap services but by the turn of the decade he was back on air in the Northwest at Chester's Dee 106.3 before joining Smooth's predecessor Jazz FM for a Sunday morning show.

Not impressed with Daryl Denham on overnights, not got the same jovial banter as Derek and it all seems a bit rushed. Smooth 70s for me until they get something sorted.

The entire Smooth line up has been a bit messy recently. I'm pleased David Prever is back on his Saturday show and I've enjoyed listening to him covering breakfast this week.

I suppose they need holidays.

Agreed, but having the right presenter cover shows for that particular audience should surely be a consideration. To my point David was a good cover for Simon. Not sure they always get it right.

Lynn was good cover for Simon, then she got the weekday show.

David Prever is in Monday for Simon. Simon back Tuesday. Emma B in for Lynn Tuesday.
