Possibly moving the beatles & other gold favs onto the Smooth band-wagon?
They can't do that because of the format restrictions on the Smooth FM stations, it has to be easy listening and soul only (London & the North West have soul included in their formats).

http://www.smoothradio.co.uk/about/public-file/ae363

Most of the tracks played on Gold don't qualify as soul or easy listening.

That I could deal with. Must admit I'm gutted about the loss of our tune and £1000 min. I just hope that smooth stays as it is music wise.

I hope if Global are going to take charge of a few things which seems to be the case, they also adopt the normal rotation of adverts for a commercial station which is every 20 minutes. The only turn off for me with Smooth is the amount of adverts, normally every couple of songs.

If Smooth was able to match the likes of Magic with it's 40 minute music sweeps it would have more of an impact in the capital and gain everywhere else. That's why Smooth 70s is quite popular.

I thought R&S limited would've copied Global's 3 song rule on both Real & Smooth when Real was networked in 2012.

Motown show is no more.
Dave Brown is just overnights now? I wonder if Jensens Top 20 is ending?

Smooth could stay in London to rival Magic 105.4 and rebrand West Midlands to Gold

Why would they do that? Smooth WM has an easy listening format so it couldn't share programmes with Gold from Leicester Square.

Paul Hollins never mentioned he was covering for Andi Peters. Was that show short lived?

The Motown show is ending, tonight was the final one.

£1000 Minute, Our Tune, Parson's Pops the Question, Motown show and Movies show all confirmed to be going so far.
I wonder what will replace The Motown show on Saturday evenings? Out of interest is Pete Watermans Friday night show staying?

Could Global rebrand Gold as Smooth 70s? Possibly moving the beatles & other gold favs onto the Smooth band-wagon?

I have a feeling that Smooth 70s is in danger of the axe.
I have noticed over the past few months that a number of shops. cafes & pubs that I have visited have Smooth 70's playing.

I think that Pat Sharp and Lyn Parsons should be swapped. Pat would be better in the morning I feel.

I also can't understand why they have Call Carlos in direct competition to Dean's excellent request show on Gold.

In my opinion Smooth would be better off have dedicated shows in the evenings such as 80's on Monday, 70's on a Tuesday, Motown on Wednesdays and Smooth Party on a Thursday.

Why Smooth Party on a Thursday - when Friday and Saturday are the going out nights, which would be in a direct brand similar to Party Capital and Club Classic on Heart? I think Call Carlos is good brand to keep up against Call Roberto on Heart.

I think they may get Shaun Tilley from Gold to present a Smooth 70's show on a weekend on both Smooth Radio and Smooth 70's as a simulcast.

It will be interesting to see if over time any regional Heart presenters are bought into cover shows on Smooth or vice versa. I would like to see Pat Sharp actually move across to Heart and present Club Classics or the evening show.

It's the last edition of Mike Sweeney's Million Sellers this evening on Smooth 70s.
But as he's based in Manchester he probably does not want to travel to London just to VT a weekly 2 hour show.

I wonder who gets the most calls??

Roberto - Heart

Dean - Gold

Carlos - Smooth

To be honest would love To hear Dean on Smooth in the evenings, he's a peoples person!

Nothing mentioned. Emma B at the end of her show just before the Double Top 20 mentioned that her producer was leaving, but nothing else.

Interesting looking at the Facebook page which has lots of people asking about the changes. These seem to have a standard reply which says "It's true that there are some changes happening at Smooth at the moment. Not all of them are confirmed as yet but we hope you'll continue to listen in future."
