There are to many bosses and execative higher up in there offices who do not have a clue what radio is about those at gmg for a start give the station back to richard weatley

I agree on entitlement of opinion Francis and would never dispute that but anyone on here can see how wound up you get over a radio station.i still believe as I am entitled to that you have a hidden agenda on your posts about smooth radio.I apologise if this is not the case .

Dave Brown's Motown show remains 6 till 8 ,thats still 2 hours as previous. .I don't think his Sunday show will be Motown .

It's very easy to assume that someone has a hidden agenda because their opinion differs from your own. The very fact that you found it necessary to reply to my post at 5.30am in the morning, tells me all I need to know. Are you sure you aren't doing what you're accusing me of? I apologise if that isn't the case.

You seem to defend Smooth Radio no matter what unjust and awful decisions are made, so perhaps you are connected in some way. I apologise if that isn't the case.

I have no wish to get into a personal disagreement with a fellow poster, so will not respond to any further comments. Everybody's opinion is valid, providing that opinion is expressed in a polite way. You like it, I don't, so let's at least agree on that.

On what basis do you conclude that Radio 2 will not soffer "one bit"? And could you answer the question posed to you by someone else.... what would you have in its place.

Let me guess... Jazz FM back some of the time, a mish mash of unconnected regional/local programmes with no real long term direction (and in many cases not much locally relevant content anyway)?

I'm sure that Sibeber is capable of defending himself... but how does the time of one's posting actually "tell you all you need to know". People lead busy lives; not everyone works 9-5 or sleeps from 11-7.

And would you care to clarify the "unjust and awful" decisions. What is unjust about a quasi regional network going national?

Yes Sibeber could be in Australia for all I know. I thought that as he/she regarded it as a matter of pressing urgency to reply at a time of day when most people have other, more important matters to attend to, it must be something that takes precedence over everyday life. I have no argument with Sibeber, or any other poster.

I have nothing more to say on this pointless station, other than somebody providing a genuine alternative to yet more of the same, would have been far preferable.

Bonkers. Smooth is not "more of the same". It is quite different to Heart, Capital or Gold for many reasons.

Come on - what would be a "genuine alternative"? What would the station be and what would be its format? In what way would it be more successful that the one proposed by Smooth?

If the station really is that "pointless" you should at least have an idea of what wouldn't be pointless?

Guess a lot depends if you are in London or not as Magic 105.4 and Smooth are now overlapping quite a bit!
For those outside of London Smooth might add a bit more easy listening choice of new and old tracks, with a hint of soul! (with Breeze also now on the south coast)!

Global are just keeping Gold ticking over with no investment, but is an oldies station rather than easy listening (also Magic AM in the north is more oldies!)! Global have an interest in seeing Smooth succeed as they provide the on air ads sales!

Smooth will have a total of 2.8 million listeners and could either pick up new listeners next week with the TV, billboard and bus ads, or lose some with the loss of some presenters, in the long term they will try and get above the 3 million mark! But as GMG don't have shareholders will not be too concerned!

I reckon Radio 2 will get Tony to cover a weekday show when there is holidays to challenge Smooth? Would Radio 2 offer Tony Early Breakfast? Smooth weekends don't look solid enough to challenge Radio2. They should have got some other well known national voices in.

I heard the promo for weekdays. I wonder if Lynn will continue after Christmas, or come back to Radio2 full time? Or will that be the same as Tony and won't be able to work for Radio 2 unless she gives up Smooth?

Just wonder? I be surprised if Lynn Parsons could continue after December to present at Radio 2 if Smooth want to challenge the station? This what happened to Tony Blackburn, so will Lynn stay, or jump to the BBC R2 early show?

Whoops I've upset Carlos on Facebook. A listener asked him "Why have you not wished Nick Piercey all the best? Bit one-sided to only mention Tammy (Gooding)" This is his response "I have publicly and privately wished my colleagues all the very best for t heir futures - you haven't been there or seen the messages. I am replacing Tammy so I have been very conscious of her feelings and those of her listeners. She is a close friend who has been very supportive for many many years. She has been encouraging thru the changes - some folks haven't been considerate.
There have been some nasty remarks on here and elsewhere on the internet; some from people who claim to be "friends" and don't know the facts" plus another post "You'd never believe how some folks have behaved , anyway onwards and upwards , I've toughened after almost 30 years in the business" hmmmm.
