In a nutshell. National Jazz, Soul and Country stations would be good for a kick off. Broadcasting on FM and DAB.

Any ideas on suitable FM frequencies for high power transmissions from Wrotham, Rowridge, Divis, Presely, Llanddona, Blaen-Plwyf that wouldn't upset the French, Irish or Belgian regulators? Therein lies the problem.
Jazz FM could have bid for the INR1 100-102FM licence in 1991 (the BA1990 requirement is for a non-pop station) - as far as I remember they didn't bother.

Not much to be honest. He said it had been a pleasure and that it was nice to get all the texts and e-mails from listeners over the past three years. He finally added he would stay in contact using Twitter.
What have they done to the quality now! The voiceovers are very loud but the commericals and music seems very quiet, almost distorted and watered down.
I hope for one they resolve these issues before the launch on Monday morning.

And steve collins is also a verry good broadcaster as well .When it was jazz fm 102.2 john scragg 10 00 to 2 00 went out on lnd and nw and 2 00 to 5 00 steve collins from manchester also went out on lnd/nw

It's the same on Smooth NW (via D1) and London (via Freeview) where the levels are all over the place.
just listening to paul wappats drivetime on smooth northeast and he has been saying he is looking forward to playing the last set of songs on the 70's @ 7, and he's been saying what a great lineup we have here on smooth since monday morning - it must be awful for all them to be doing this when they know they have not got a job come 8pm.

It's been like that on DAB in the West Midlands for years! The music is very quiet, but when ads, jingles or the news starts the volume is very loud for a few seconds before it corrects itself.

I have been listening to Tony Lyman on Smooth East Midlands on the way home from Derby tonight. He already has a new job on BBC East Midlands.
At 8pm the regional Smooth service ends. There are no 4 hour regional shows on the English stations this weekend.

He is starting early November. Tony has always had s nice style and manner and I'm glad he's got somethig new. Years ago I used to listen a lot to Gem when he and a load of other great presenters were on. Having not listened to Smooth for quite a while it's kind of nice to hear Tony finish it's regional programmes. But I still wont listen to it from next week and will stick with Radio 2 and other BBC output. At other times at home I stream Glam FM via iTunes and Airport to my hi fi. Oldies yes but much more variety. I wish Internet radio would take off and we could have it in the car. Thy would give these stations a real run for their money. All the best to you if you like and listen to Smooth.

Why would Graham want to go back on magic 105.4 after already being there - and just sitting there playing music and pressing buttons? I'm sure he'd much prefer to be on a station that will allow him to speak?!

Graham's delivery suits Magic, minimal links and MOR music suits it and got much better Rajar when he was there in the same slot. He never sounded right on Smooth, although he had a tiny but loyal audience.
Ah right , yes, i do not think magic would ever go and have graham on breakfast on magic, he could never replace a name like Neil Fox, but suppose could do weekend breakfast, but I think Martin Collins is happily plodding away doing this right now and he's the regular fill in guy at magic too. Would there really be any room for Graham?

Graham was the breakfast presenter on Magic and Foxy replaced him, he moved to drive and then moved to Smooth when it rebranded as an classic hits/oldies service in London.
I'm sure if Bauer really wanted him back on Magic, they'd find a place for his talent. The trick with Magic though is the music is king, not the presenter. (Unless you're Neil Fox!)

At least you know I respect and understand Magic's brand values, even if I wouldn't want to listen to it for long periods.
Anyway, I look forward to the official re-launch of Smooth on Monday to see if there is any improvement to the output or is as monotone as ever.
