The Myriad play out system really is excellent but I always feel it (or whatever database the commercial stations are using) really is being under utilised. It really should be a powerful and creative tool indeed, instead of the same old.
I think that's why Smooth Radio 70's was so good. It sounded as if the tracks and playlists were being chosen by enthusiasts, rather than anonymous producers who hadn't a clue what was being played in the 70's. I always heard songs I hadn't heard on the radio in a long, long, time, and there was a certain amount of listener input as well.

Firstly Global use Genesys for play out not Myriad, secondly believe me Global are using it to its full advantage and it certainly is not being under utilised. Split adverts for each region along with splits in travel are certainly using the system well. Listen to capital and hear some of there localises now thats creativity at its best splitting away from the network before rejoining again.
Smooth 70's was appauling, why i hear you ask ? because it made no money. At the start the station had no adverts, only GMG would come up with the idea to pay 10,000's for a Digital 1 slot and have no return. The station like most of GMG's other ventures was loosing money so it wasn't successful.
