Honestly, without spoiling anything, I wasn't that impressed with anybody last night (I know y'all will be impressed with the ringer, but that just annoys me). I think it was way too soon for the quickstep and the jive.

YMMV and I'm sure it will.

Sorry, but Jennifer has obviously had far more training than just being in one movie one time. It's very obvious.

I know many people here love the ringers, but to me it's just boring.

Didn't get around to posting about last week's show, so my comments are a mix of both weeks! I thought last week was the best first week I've seen and I was so glad when David Hasselhoff was eliminated.

Audrina & Tony -
CCC -
Great 1st dance!
QS - Loved her dress! Very good performance and definitely a contender! I did think Bruno was mean not giving that 8, almost as if it was deliberate just to fox Tony. Have to say though that Audrina doesn't seem very bright to me.

Kurt & Anna -
VW -
WOW! I like them a lot!
Jive - Loving him! He 'gets' it already! He was leading too! Definitely a contender, especially as he's not an entertainer or used to performing!

Kyle & Lacey -
CCC -
Got potential, but he needs finesse.
QS - He is good! Loved the modern take, but he does need more over all control. Could be a finalist, but don't think he will win.

Rick & Cheryl -
VW -
Graceful and good posture for a tall guy, even kept his bum in!
Jive - He's going to struggle if he has a problem pushing into the floor with that foot, but he was very good though! I wonder if he is just used to working with pain and pushing past it?

Margaret & Louis -
VW -
Great start to the routine, but needs to drop the comedy pronto.
Jive - Horrible dress. Not enough bounce & went wrong. Shame - a bit more practice and she'd have been good. Maybe the routine was a bit too fast for her? Louis shouldn't have said that about a 6 not being good enough in front of Margaret, when she is already lacking confidence. I really like her when she sticks to dancing.

Brandy & Maks -
VW
- 2nd best VW of the night for me.
CCC- Clearly tension between them, but she looked great and did really well in a routine that had a lot of scope to go wrong. Given she was lacking confidence, I think the routine was too hard and I get the impression she didn't want Maks as a pro. If they don't start to click, I can see them going home too early.

Bristol & Mark -
CCC
Hate Mark's shaved hair shaved and how awful to give her that song with its double entendre (her name is bad enough) - what were they thinking? I really like her and it was so nice to see a true newbie on the show.
QS - I like Bristol a lot! Love the dress and she dances so well! Loved seeing her little sister so excited!
Bruno was right about her needing to learning to perform. I think the other couples like her too, based on her reception in the sky room!

Florence & Corky -
CCC
- Just fantastic for her age, although she's a bit flat footed. I'd prefer her to leave comedy out and don't like the wide eyed thing!
QS - Fabulous dress - she does look amazing with great posture - love her attitude too! Corky's face gets on my nerves. She did lose her step quite a lot and Bruno was kind. She's a bit OTT for me but mild compared to Cloris. 6 was generous after Rick's 7

Michael & Chelsie
VW -
Laughed at Michael's "I have shoes older than her!" He wasn't too bad at all!
Jive - I'm glad he said he wasn't a quitter because that's just what I was thinking! Pretty poor really and he clearly struggled - not doing a lot at certain times and looking half hearted the rest of the time! Bruno was cruel t- it wasn't the worst in 11 seasons! Glad they got some great comments from Carrie Ann. Interesting to see such lows scores on DWTS and loved Tom's "We have a 3?"

Mike The Situation & Karina -
CCC
What a pillock and wearing rosary beads in the VT? Just awful, with terrible pigeon toes too. Hardly any rhythm. He better buck up fast now he's finally in training.
QS - He's a bit of a klutz, but those pigeon toes! I thought he was going to trip over his own feet! Not bad at all though, just a shame about that promenade! Not sure about him tbh.

Jennifer & Derek -
VW -
Lovely dancer and easily the performance of the night. It's been a long time since she danced, but she clearly has a lot of natural talent and has looked after herself.
Jive - WOW! That was fast! I wonder what Michael Bolton thought when he saw them? Very good indeed!

When the recap on the result showed the Jives danced by the other male celebs, it really highlighted just how mediocre Michael's Jive was. If anybody else had been eliminated this week, then it would have meant a better dancer had gone. I did think Michael came over as a poor loser and could have at least remained gracious during the show. I liked him before the show and he is a great singer, but his attitude has spoiled my view of him a little.

I do find it strange that the guest pro dancers are not even named! Tom is on top form, but I'm still not keen on Brooke.

PS I wonder how long it will take Len to say "It's never too early to panic" on the new series of SCD?!

Yeah, I just rrewatched Cloris' jive. It may have had the same amount of content but that was hilarious! She lost her wig and kept on dancing, and she walked on her friggin' hands! She was 82 years old! Watch it again and tell me it was worse. I cried with laughter.

Bolton didn't even try. Who even likes that guy? Michael Clompton.

I do/did like Michael as a singer, but couldn't stand Cloris. I admire her for her stamina and fitness, but her comedy style is not my kind of humour and every week she was on the show, I wanted her voted off. I don't want to see comedy replace dancing ability on the show. The kind of comedy I like to see on the dance floor is what we saw from Melissa Joan Hart dancing the Charleston with Tony. Each to their own I guess!

Michael's Jive was the worst on the show (and he deserved to be eliminated).

It was very considerate of Watch to have scheduled DWTS, this week, to avoid clashing with SCD. This must be quite an exceptional precedent, for broadcasters to take the viewing public into account. Whatever next?

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke

In the the rehearsal Fox appearing to struggle 'lets go slower', etc. Perhaps the producer was building tension. Fox's performance was far better than I was anticipating.

The height discrepancy was less distracting this week. Perhaps in Latin, where there is less close hold, height discrepancy is less of a disadvantage than in ballroom.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas

Coryky's red jacket was smart, but reminded me of a bus conductor or bandsman.

I was impressed with Florence last week (cha cha), and was thinking that Latin would be her weaker dance, so I was expecting this week to be good. But I was disappointed. It was OK (and actually quite remarkable for 76).

Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

I was expecting Latin to be Brandy's stronger dance. So I was expecting lots of energy and precision. I felt they were often out of sync. I was disappointed. Actually, I thought Brandy's performance was barely better than Florence's.

Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower

Oh dear, oh dear.

The face mask in training said: "I'm a big strong man and I've got a sniff of a cold, so I don't want to be here."

I felt sorry for Chelsea. I felt she wanted to sit on the floor and cry.

"I'll build a dog kennel instead. Perhaps Len will give me a mark for that."

I think that part of the problem here is Chelsea's inexperience of dealing with a difficult case. Perhaps someone like Erin Bogue would have been able to get inside Bolton's head and motivate him and give him encouragemet. But still probably easier trying to raise the dead.

He made an effort. Sort of.

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani

Fom the training footage, I was expecting great things.

And they delivered. Confident and very promising. I'm wondering if Tony is strong enough for Audrina.

I think Audrina looked great too, off the floor.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough

Derek is 25, and Jennifer is 50. Jennifer is easily old enough to be Derek's mum, if not his grannie.

I was mentally comparing Jennifer's jive with Brandy's, and thought Jennifer's performance was far better.

I think Jennifer was genuinely knackered at the end, and I can believe it. I'm glad she didn't pass out.

Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amsel

I would have thought that ballroom would have been Margaret's stronger dance, and considering last week's fiasco, I was expecting a train crash.

I was very suprised. It just goes to show - if she just take herself seriously.

I wonder if Louise finds her personality overwhelming. Perhaps that's why Louis went along with the joke last week, against his better judgement, because he was too wimpish to control her.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer

During training, Kyle's tubby profile was prominent, and it was obvious that he enjoys his hamburgers. Most dancers lose a few punds during the series, and he certainly could.

Lacey also looks as though she's partial to the odd doughnut, or two.

This pair appear to be in the show, not primarilly to win, but to enjoy themselves.

This is a really good pairing. Lacey has a reputation of being a rebel. I can see mischief ahead, fortunately.

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya

What sort of person has a name like Kurt?

There are not that many names that rhyme with 'berk'.

I thought the remark, referring to Len as 'one old guy from England' is exactly what you expect a 'Kurt' to say.

This guy needs to be taken down several pegs.

Unfortunately his performance was only mediocre, so Len didn't get the opportunity to give him the 3 he deserved.

Anyway, Len is far too nice a person, and proper gentleman. And Len gave him quite a good mark.

But 'Kurt' has got his cards marked, so don't expect any favours.

The Situation and Karina Smirnoff

Situation gives me the impression of thinking that he's wonderful, and that he deserves a row of 10's just for turning up (because he's a busy fellow and has far more important things to do).

The performance wasn't elegant, and a bit of a mess. But he was sweating, so he was trying. Perhaps not accustomed to sweating.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas

I felt that Bristol had neither the natural talent, nor the motivation, to do really well. I can imagine Bristol, in the DWTS canteen, scoffing doughnuts together with Kyle and Lacey.

However, Mark Ballas, for all his faults, is an excellent teacher.

Mark is almost the opposite to sweet Chelsea. Half the teaching problem is not about teaching the steps and the routine, but knowing exactly how to encourage and motivate the dancer. I wonder if Mark can work a miracle.

I actually enjoyed watching them dance. And Len gave them an 8.

---

One theme that emerged for me this week, was the relation of the teacher to the pupil, in terms of knowing how to motivate and guide the pupil, and how little credit we sometimes give to the role of the teacher.

I feel part of Michael Bolton's problem was Chelsie.
She doesn't seem able to get inside her partner's head & help them.
I think she is an excellent dancer but isn't a good teacher.

I so agree with you. We are used to Maks clashing with his celeb, but it doesn't look good with Brandy. A few of the pros are not having an easy time this season. I think Louis was just waiting for the judges to tell Margaret to cut out the comedy, as she was probably not listening to him before the lives shows started. This week we saw her emotional as she realised she could actually dance and with hindsight, Louis' remark about a 6 not being good enough, may be a sign he thinks they can be good together. Karina looks like she's struggling with Mike, mainly because they are so far behind and he thinks he's better than he really is - or can be!

What a great series though - two of the duffers have already gone home!

I'm not sure I agree about Chelsie because when she had Ty (sighs ), she did wonders with him. The big difference between Michael and Ty is that Ty genuinely wanted to learn to dance and he'd try what ever Chelsie suggested. Now I think that Michael was just trying to raise his profile because he was touring. I liked him week one and went right off him week two.

I remembered it was on on Thursday! Yay!

Rick & Cheryl - I really like him and his Jive surprised me, was very good and enjoyable to watch.

Florence & Corky - Lovely lady and so far i've enjoyed watching her dance.

Brandy & Maks - I warmed to him last season and i still like him, her however i am going off rapidly! I know it is down to Maks regarding the choreography but i feel she will blame him for everything she can! And i didn't think her Jive was that great.

Michael & Chelsie - WTF was Chelsie thinking having him crawl out of a doghouse??!!!
Awful dance, awful choreography (imo) and awful song

Audrina & Tony - I liked this one, she is a contender imo. Buddy i agree she comes across as abit of an airhead but i do like her.

Jennifer & Derek - Brilliant!

Margaret & Louis - Much better than last week.

Kyle & Lacey - Very good, i really like him and i think he will go a long way.

Kurt & Anna - I like this bloke and i liked his Jive, i think Ricks was slightly better though.

The Situation & Karina - Had enough of him already, eurghh!

Bristol & Mark - Really like her and i think her dance this week was better than last week. Once she gets over the nerves i think she'll be better.

Not surprised at who went.

Tom continues to be great but Brooke not so much
