within the facebook for android app (htc desire 2.2 ) i have changed the settings to never update.
but guess what every hour without fail the app updates.
i can see it has updated in the widget for the app.
i dont want it updating at all,,i want it too update when and only when i start the app or click on the widget.
i have disabled "always on data " but that makes no diffrrence from what i can see it just puts the 3g connection to sleep.

how can i disable the updates ? ? ?
if i cannot find solution then its goodbye app...i mean whats the point of having the option in the settings if when changing it the app decides it doesnt want to listen anyway.

ohh and anybody got any suggestions for another facebook app.

Are you using the one that came with the phone itself or the one downloaded from the Android Market? Do you need to have 3g on all the time or are you not bothered having it always enabled?

Just remove the app and log into touch.facebook.com instead, the whole point of the widget is to update at a set interval it seems pointless to have it on the screen if you dont want it to update.

pointless to who ? ?
i want the widget there for when i choose to go on facebook.
i do not want it updating every hour when i have clearly changed the settings to never update.
if i choose to have a widget on MY phone and too update when i want . then that is surely upto me is it not :?

Why not just use a shortcut to the facebook app to launch it rather than the widget. Solves the problem and likely frees up a ton of wasted space on the homescreen
