Rubbish, as long as it is entertaining and provokes debate, who cares.

Spoiler
I'm too much of a coward to start threads

It's a good thread Sophie. It's been quite a nice chat so far.

I'm really stupid, am I not? Of course they are. Sorry shows you what happens when you are presented with information out of context.

I think there should be a moment where the Timelords or there presents is felt via the doctor however to have him go back to feeling mopey or depressed about the time war would be the worse mistake that could do.

As someone said when the Timelords returned at the End of Time, it actually showed the doctor was right in "Destroying" them.

Not a problem, clearly the timewar drove Rassilon slightly insane and rightly or wrongly the doctor had no choice.

However looking at the scene when Wilf was in the chamber while the 10th Doctor was brutally rude towards him. I don't know why or how, however I picked up that this behavior swing could have been the same amount of anger that either the 8th or 9th doctor experienced shortly after watching Gallifrey burn.

I don't think he'd ever think of it as the 'right' thing to do, after all if there's two things we learned it's that there were Time Lords that did oppose Rassilon and the war, and that Rassilon was using threats to maintain power - it wasn't that the Time Lords as a whole were irredeemable.

On the other hand, I do think that actually having members of the council actively help him send them back into the lock would ease his guilt about having to make that decision on his own previously. Make him feel less alone.

Ha ha! Yes. Except I'm not that nebo. I'm the Chronic Argonaut (not really, just here). But my namesake is much more cool and may I compliment you on your taste in books.

I try not to get all personal about the people who make the show. Some things I like, others I don't. I thought RTD did a terrific job and we'll never know if anyone else could have done better. I doubt many whinging fans like me have the skills.

Did they, though? I know his mother was hinting at shooting the machine, but other than her...was Ten aware of any active opposition?

Didn't Rassilon make his "like the weeping angels of old" speech after they appeared before the Doctor?

*shrugs* Difficult to know what the Doctor knew, but certainly having his 'mother' and his arch-enemy both agree he was doing the right thing probably eased his conscience.

I think if he runs into Jenny again or if his Mother or Granddaughter turns up then we might see some emotion.

However he did get rather angry during Victory of the Daleks. So it hasn’t completely gone away.

Also 10 only really got emotional about when the subject came up and that only really happened in one of 11’s episodes which is the one that I have already mentioned.

Hit the nail on the head......In my mind I have just done a quick count of all the times that the Tenth Doctor would get mopey/angsty about the Timelords and Gallifrey....about 6 or 7 times....with EOT bing the only story where he mostly from start to finish thinking about Time Lords and Gallifrey...but he also has his own death in his mind, and Adeliade's death on his concious....so its never one main thing. Haven't included Water's of Mars...because that was more madness than angst of being the last of his kind...and the others were mostly short mentions, with LOTTL being the one that was given slighly more attention to that theme, which considering it was the title of the episode, kind of makes sense.....and his other angsts have been loss of companions...but again they are nver of him sitting in one place and crying his eyes out for 45 minutes...the most a few minutes of screent time....but usually he is a happy dappy time lord, with other things that make him angry, or sad, or grumpy....but that is the same with the Eleventh Doctor, for example getting annoyed at the Atraxi, or the humans on the Beast, or the Daleks, or being mr grumpy face with River, looking angsty when Rory tells him that he is dangerous, looking ansgty when the dream lord is about and making quips about him, pleading to the allience, talking to Amelia in a sad lost way just before he goes into the crack in the wall (although you could argue he was manipulating his own survival, so how is that different to the Tenth Doctor not wanting to let go either)

On a whole the Last of the Time Lord theme has been dealt with in End of Time, hence why the Doctor can now just say that it was indeed a bad day....he also (by his reward visits) has realised that he indeed doesn't destroy his compnaions lives just because they travelled with him....which gives him the clean concious of wnating to happily get on with Amy and Rory...he also now knows how to handle crushes

So chances are that we won't get the Last of the time Lord theme now....but we will still get angsty Doctor just like we have done in series 5.....

I hope we don't get constant moping from the Doctor, but the odd mention is fair enough- he made a difficult decision, the one he thinks was right, but a lot of people he loved will have died in the process.

Of course I'm sure sooner or later we will have at least the occasional other Time Lord turning up again, so he's not really the last one. Though I'm sure if he had to pick someone else to survive, it wouldn't have been the Master!
