7 months after I stopped my handsome cat Neo's severe pain and gently put him to sleep, I still cry. The grief can come on anywhere, in the car, at work, when I go to sleep, anytime. I have his ashes and sometimes get him out for a hug and a good cry.

I miss you Neo and pray that your beautiful spirit will stay by my side forever. Your mammy will always love you xxx

We've just had my son's dog put to sleep. He was only seven. He had a lovely nature, he was a German Shep/Rotty cross. Sadly he became ill in the last few days and when the vet operated found he was full of cancer. We'll all very upset, especially my son. RIP Asty.

Here is a picture of our Charlies grave, and the 'marker' I just made for him,

and here is the lad himself when he was with us, on his favourite spot, on top of the shed,

still loved, still missed,

Yes, there's some lovely memorial stones out there, and some will even inscribe a message (if that's what you want)

I ordered one for our dearheart, and sprinkled his ashes before finishing his little corner of the garden (it's all filled with flowers now, the picture was taken before Spring had sprung!)

Still sorely missed, however I never think of him out in the garden, he's here in my heart x

Thank you for pinning this thread, it helps to share with fellow animal lovers

We bought a lovely little stone cat to put on my lovely cats grave (they died a couple of days apart so we buried them together) and sowed some Forget-me -not seeds..It's a very special corner of my garden.

Those memorials you all have are beautiful. My cat Muppet hated going outdoors (I am sure he was agoraphobic). I didn't like to think of him alone outside, so he is in his favourite sleeping spot, under the bed - well his ashes are (in a casket of course).

To all the pets I have loved and lost.

Remembering Judy and Kenny, my first guinea pigs when I was a child. They began for me a life long obsession with them...

Twizzles our rescued cockatiel found in a car park at husband's work. We didn't even know what he was at first, having never been interested in birds. Twizzles gave us happiness and amusement for 3 years until he died very suddenly in 2008.

Cherie, our beautiful lab/alsation cross whom we inherited from our cleaner (!) who could not cope with her size anymore. A gorgeous girl who was friendly, funny and brilliant when our young sons were born. Almost a "nanny dog", although she had a bit of a bad habit of escaping out the back door and finding a nice juicy bin to rummage through (greedy lab trait!). We had her from 1989 to 1996 when she sadly died from a liver problem. We never thought we would have another dog with a temperament like hers so did not own a dog until earlier this year when we took on a rescue spaniel, who does seem to be Cherie reincarnated in lots of respects.

RIPs...

For Jasper the Rottweiler, the most soppy, loving, and kind hearted dog I've ever met, who had a cruel and horrible start to a life which was cut short at just 8 years old.

For Sammy the lovely black cat who survived life with Jasper and succumbed to cancer at 17.

For Mollie, the black and white kitten, abandoned at 3 months old, and re-homed with me only to taken by kidney failure at 6 months.

Our rescue cat simba was found dead in our local park. We adopted him from the cat protection when he was 4, and he lasted until he was 17. He is an amazing cat who always did his own thing from knicking pasta right off my folk or cliaming anything that was fluffy as his own. He will be misssed so much.

For Willow, one of our Golden Retrievers, he battled kidney failure for three days on a drip in order to flush the toxins out of his body and to give his kidneys a chance.

But despite appearing outwardly normal and bouncy Friday when we picked him up from the overnight emergency vets, his blood test later that day showed no improvement. We let him go to Rainbow Bridge whilst he was happy and with no pain or nausea, with us cuddling him on the floor.

Goodbye Willow, we will miss you.

Charlie we miss you and will always love you, you were such a loving cat, I miss hearing you say hello when I walk into a room and how you always met me when I came home and stood on your back legs to greet us.

I know you had a very poorly heart but it was a heart full of love, you were so very good at taking your tablets and never made a fuss, always there with us and now your sleeping peacefully and without any pain.

You will be forever in our hearts, sleep well Charlie xxxxx

My beautiful cat Clyde died on Tuesday.

We had to have him put to sleep because he was suffering with a variety of things.

He was 18 years old and lived a fantastic life. I can't stop crying though - it breaks my heart.

We lost our dog 5 years ago (Bonnie - hence my username) and I still cry when I think about her.

I've just lost my Yorkshire Terrier, Piper, after 9 years. She was absolutely fine, then this week she had problems weeing. Today we found out she had a growth on her bladder that was inoperable, so we had her euthanised.

I'm gutted. Shocked. I'll miss her so much.

RIP Piper xxx
