So not sure how up to speed anyone is, but Electra Heart is a selfish bitch: http://electraheart.tumblr.com/ Two vids of Marina performing 2 new songs for MTV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud0p7...layer_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlBp3...layer_embedded Also she posted this today on her website: Quote:
"Electra Heart" epitomises and embodies the lies, illusions and death of American ideologies involved in the corruption of self. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=9txg0XicoJ0"Part 1" is called "Fear And Loathing". This includes a preview of an album track, under same title. "Part 2" will be posted on this same page next Monday at 4pm. Nice to be back, Love, Marina Oh and she's dyed her hair silver: http://twitpic.com/5wu5u2/full |

I love Marina and the Diamonds so much, I'm still listening to The Family Jewels, but I'm not overly keen on Radioactive
![]() It seems to me that she is being pushed by her label into a more commercial style of music, which baffles me since I thought most of The Family Jewels sounded commercial but with proper, meaningful, clever lyrics! The "Electra Heart" thing strikes me as her way of covering up how commercial is might be and basically saying "It's not me going mainstream, it's Electra". Just a theory. The music business is still a business afterall. Also, I'm basing my judgement on two tracks and neither could be representative of the whole album so... heres hoping.

I would hardly say Fear and Loathing is commercial. Also, you mention The Family Jewels having a fairly commercial sound but with meaningful lyrics, but is that not exactly what Radioactive is? I think this sound suits the theme of the American Dream very well, and it is actually very creative and artistic.
The lyrics are not that special in my opinion and don't jell too well with the instrumental. So, in my opinion, it's commercial but without the meaningful lyrics. The whole American Dream theme was covered far better for me in songs like Hollywood and even Oh No!.To be honest, my theory was just that - a theory, and I thought I'd sound it out. I'm still looking forward to album two! ![]() Radioactive is actually stuck in my head, so I like it to a degree, but once again, the lyrics don't click for me. |

On first listen I wasn't hooked on Radioactive; it's not an instant hit like Oh No! or Shampain were. It might grow on me tho.

"Radioactive" is addictive.
I've just ordered the debut album "The family jewels". |

Rediscovered Obsessions from her first album. Great song! Was this song released and did it chart at all?

What's everyone's thoughts on Primadonna? I really like it but I probably prefer Radioactive. Still got me really excited for Electra Heart though!

Primadonna is great, but Radioactive surpasses it. I am very excited for Electra Heart. Cosidering ordering the HMV Ltd Edition Signed copy.

Radioactive took some time to grow on me. I absolutely adore it now. I don't listen to it often as I don't want it to get old
