Does anyone know which month that Desire HD will be available on O2 - i've heard they are delaying it because of the WM7 phone (or rather it is called)

HTC phone releases always seem to be delayed.
I remember the interminable wait I had to endure before the original HTC Desire became available.

It will be this month - likely as not during the next week. Best value at the moment on O2 is
600 mins + unlimited texts + data @£35/month + £9.99 for the phone

Desire HD - Orange/Vodafone/O2

Why is it then contract people are getting their subsidised network phones first, yet those of us who want to pay nearly £500 outright have to wait another month?

Usually it's because the contract retailers (especially CPW companies) are able to place bigger orders thus get higher priority. With any high profile launch there's always haggling with everyone aiming to be first to market - CPW usually wins though

The first stock is due in tomorrow so the lucky few should get their's on Tuesday.

I thought it was delayed, my Amazon order said tomorrow, now it says more than a month's time.

So could I buy one from CPW sim free tomorrow? if so I would.

We don't know that's definitely the case yet, but it's probably because your £500 is paltry compared to the amount that the networks will be paying for their initial orders...

No. Mobiles.co.uk/e2Save will be first to get them out the door but only on contracts. There's a £32.50/500 mins/unlim texts/500 meg/free phone deal on Voda that should go out early in the week. Sorry I'm not sure of the SIM free position at the moment, realistically the retailers that are able to get them first will want to sell contracts.

Well if they don't want my business I'll go and buy an iPhone 4 then or something.

I don't see why people who want to buy the handset outright should be any different to people who want it on a contract.

If anybody finds anywhere where you can buy it then give me a shout, otherwise if I have to wait until mid November I may very well change my mind. I'm already going off the idea and thinking sod it, I'll wait until the next big handset is out next year.

The thing that pisses me off is that I was told it would be here next week and that date has been put back by more than a month while people will be getting them next week on contract.

I don't see the big deal about the Desire HD tbh. If rumours are anything to go by, Android Gingerbread will be released in 2/3 months time, and is rumoured to support high end devices. It is rumoured to have a revamped UI which I have read will not support the additional overlay that mobile manufacturers put on their handsets, i.e Sense, Motoblur etc. Which would mean that Desire HD/Z would not officially be able to upgrade to Android Gingerbread and gain the new additional features that will come with the updated OS.

T-Mobile have now got the HTC Desire HD available to order! It's in black. Beat Vodafone by a week and a half!

Free phone on a £40pm tariff. Ouch!

I think HTC are taking the mickey delaying it so long, surely they are only making themselves look untrustworthy and unreliable by keep delaying it.

I'm happy to wait until the end of October, but not much longer, my PAC code expires on the 7th Nov

Except you can't actually order it, the page doesn't exist when you try.

Sorry, but the page you're looking for isn't here

Either it doesn't exist or you typed the address wrong. Not that we're pointing any fingers.

Try searching our site below, explore our site map or use the quick links at the foot of this page to help you find what you want.
I wasn't actually going to order, just see if it said what date it would arrive on if you ordered it.

I think everyone should be aware that ALL HTC Desire HD's are currently delayed.

Regardless of buying on contract or sim free, Google hasn't approved them for release yet so they won't be leaving for your door yet.

When they are given approval by Google the delay between sim free and contract phones is purely down to stock and supplier issues.

Not sure how you managed that.

I just tried the order process too out of curiosity when I read the above. It let's me select the handset, select the tariff and extras but when you click checkout the error message as described by Thine Wonk appears.

As I'm a TMobile customer I decided to see if TMobile had them lining up for their customers so I called the sales team. They were very surprised to hear the handset was on the website and said nobody should be able to see it because it should only be at the register interest stage. They told me it's at least a week away from even being considered to be launched as a pre-order on the website as they have no stock yet and it's not completed TMobile's own testing yet (probably because Google haven't approved the handset yet).

They said nobody should be able to get the checkout option and they'd pass on the information that this is on their website because as far as they were concerned it shouldn't be there.

Hope nobody's tried to actually order one, they'll be disappointed if so

I've not ordered one.

But either way, I doubt very much that your handset has been released considering that any such action would see Google come down very hard on any supplier releasing an unapproved handset against their licensing conditions. It would cause a massive issue and I doubt any supplier would risk that.

I know it's an expensive phone, I know price will slowly come down, but even so T-Mobile seem to be taking the piss with those prices. You can't get the phone for free on a 35 squid contract?! Ridiculous, can't see too many people ordering direct from them.

Got to take into consideration that Web teams tend to know info. before telephone Sales teams do. Just ask O2 and Orange.

Went via Mobile Phones Direct, got it at £35 a month, 18 months for £19 up front.

May have to wait a while longer, but I'll get an unbranded, unlocked phone for a whole lot less. And have a better choice of cases/accessories to protect my handset from the moment I purchase it

Asking O2 and Orange about TMobile sales teams and the way they work. Perhaps not the best idea
(Although Orange and TMobile are merging it's not quite that far in the process of doing so yet)

The one thing I will point out is that it's accepting orders tonight that it wasn't last night... Interesting.
